Super Bowl rebound
February 6th 2013 01:47
Now that everyone has had time to recover; either from the sweet taste of victory or from the bitter taste of defeat, everyone can asses what happened the Super Bowl.
Both teams played lights out... literally. Joe Flacco played well and so did Colin Kaepernick. Kaepernick may have thrown a pick, but for a second year QB with just a little more than a half a season of starting experience, he played very well.
Flacco's critics can finally get off his back and give him the respect he deserves and perhaps he can be financially rewarded. As for Colin, he's in a different boat. One similar to Aaron Rodgers when he posted great numbers but no ring came out of it.
I'm not comparing Kaepernick to Rodgers, but I am saying that following Rodgers beyond phenomenal season in 2011, his numbers were "down" the following year and his INT's were "up" as well. He was brutally criticized by the media for not posting similar numbers to his record setting year in 2011.
Back to Kaepernick...Very few QB's have come back to recover from a loss in the Super Bowl. In fact only four have done it and John Elway was the last to do so.
Not Peyton Manning, not the golden boy Tom Brady, not Big Ben not Rodgers, so on and so forth. But Kaepernick probably has the best team to change that stat.
In his ten games he has shown us that he can play; he can read and break down plays, he makes plays, and he has a stingy defense to clean up when he can't.
Hopefully Kaepernick is the one to change this stat because of all the QB's mentioned, he's the only one without a ring. It would be a shame if he was unable to get one before his career is over. But he has plenty of time to complete the task.
