Yumeiro Patissiere anime review

October 31st 2009 09:14
Yumeiro Patissiere is an anime adapted from the manga by Matsumoto Natsumi. It's an on-going anime when this review is written.

Yumeiro Patissiere, anime

Genres: fantasy, romance

Themes: school life

Synopsis: Amano Ichigo is a 14 year old girl, who longs to be a pâtissier. She is spotted at a department store and admitted to a pâtissier school.

Source: Anime News Network

Comment:

Whenever there's an anime that features food, I immediately think Yakitate! Japan. For those who have never watched Yakitate! Japan, you'll start to wonder what is the relationship between Yumeiro Patissiere. Obviously, there is no relationship between Yakitate! Japan and Yumeiro Patissiere other than it's a food-based anime but there is a slight similarity between Yakitate! Japan and Yumeiro Patissiere.

One of the most significant I find in this anime is how they illustrate the taste of the food. In Yumeiro Patissiere, you can expect the illustration of the taste can be so overwhelming like the one in Yakitate! Japan but Yakitate! Japan is still in my top rank when it comes to taste illustration. Since Yumeiro Patissiere is all about cakes and sweet desserts, the taste illustration can only indicate what sort of happiness it produced, unlike in Yakitate! Japan where the bread can have any kind of taste.

Yumeiro Patissiere, anime
Wow, I never thought that eating cake can make you feel like that

It's hard to judge the storyline since I'm only watching the first episode and based on the preview of the next episode, it seems like Ichigo did face a lot of obstacles in order in the beginning. Whenever I watched shoujo anime, I always feel like something is missing. It may feel like the storyline is flowing nicely but I just had a feeling that something is missing from the storyline. I can't say anything much about the storyline because I don't read the manga. Feel free to share if you watch the anime and also read the manga.

Now, for the fun part. Since this is the food anime, what kind of anime is that if there's no screencaps about the desserts. If you love sweet stuffs, you may drool by just watching this anime. I don't like sweet stuffs but I can't resist how pretty it looks. I'm so sorry because I have no idea what are they called.

Yumeiro Patissiere, anime
It looks delicious. Yummy~

Yumeiro Patissiere, anime
Strawberry heaven~

Yumeiro Patissiere, anime
This looks so tasty. Now I really am drooling!

I can't say anything much about this anime but I think this anime may not be as intense as Yakitate! Japan because it's more on shoujo anime side rather than the typical food anime. You'll be seeing a lot of character's development more instead of learning what are desserts called. This can be pretty interesting for those who love shoujo anime but it can be a boring anime for those who think this anime will be just like Yakitate! Japan. But, if you don't want an anime that makes you hungry after just watching it, this anime is better as it has less side effect compares to Yakitate! Japan.

Credit to Shojolover for the screencaps.

Kagrra - Shiki single review

October 25th 2009 07:37
I'm in the middle of watching the live broadcast of V-Rock Festival but I still won't forget to write review for Kagrra's new single, Shiki. Just to let you know, Kagrra is also performing in V-Rock Festival and they performed Shiki too. Anyway, this review will be based on regular edition version.

Kagrra, Shiki, jrock, visual-kei, psc bands

Tracklist:

1. Shiki
2. Musokyou
3. Gikyoku Kagome Uta

Kagrra, Shiki, Isshi, Akiya, Shin, Nao, Izumi

Comment:

I don't really have anything much to say about this single because I already know that Kagrra's songs never makes me feel disappointed. Generally, this single is absolutely awesome and to be able to see Shiki live (live broadcast does count though, mind you) makes this song even better. Anyway, read more if you really want to know in depth why this single really worth your money.

Let's start with Shiki first. What makes me so hooked with this song is simply because it has a calm feeling regardless of its slow tempo. For those who are not familiar with Kagrra, this is what they would define as neo japaneseque where the music has an equal mix of rock and traditional Japanese music. Mixing with traditional Japanese music may be hard to do but Kagrra did it anyway and Shiki is one of a few examples of Kagrra's neo japaneseque style. Combined with koto, it creates a wonderful sound. I know this is practically not new in Kagrra's music, but if you have never heard their song, this song can be a good introduction to Kagrra's world.

Musokyou and Gikyoku Kagome Uta on the other hand reminds me of their songs during San. When I listened to these two songs, I have never thought that songs like the one in San would be in this single. Yes, I love San a lot so having this kind of song to be included in this single is a joy to me. If you love San, these two songs will bring back memories to you.

Okay, it takes awhile for me to write this review as I'm currently watching V-Rock Festival with Vidoll currently performing. Moving back to the single, I personally think that this single is slightly better than Uzu because the B-side tracks are absolutely awesome. Please don't misunderstood that I like the single only because of B-side (I know it does happens in my review) but for this single, the whole single itself is amazing and it's not going to disappoint you on way or another.

This is obviously a must have for Kagrra fans with lovely cover as a bonus and this is also another great introduction to Kagrra's songs for those who are not familiar with Kagrra.

Their OHP has also been updated with their latest pics for P!NK Masquerade. Take a look at their new look here. If you'd like to know about the tracklist for this single, you can read my post here.

If you haven't preorder the single, you can start ordering the single here:

Okay, I'm so bothered with Takeru's look for this single. It's not weird but it's something I am least expected. Somehow, I started to think that he really wants to represent himself as.......little devil I guess? Since he's chibi, he'll look good being a little devil. I'm just glad that the rest didn't have horns on their head and Shinpei sticks with his brand new headphone. I think headphone will be Shinpei's trademark just like Reita with noseband.

What do you think about SuG's new look and Shinpei's trademark?

Eyeshield 21 anime review

October 17th 2009 04:33
I just feel weird for not writing this anime review last week since I haven't finished watching this anime (it has 145 episodes and it's way impossible for me to finish it in a short time). But then again, this anime is adapted from the manga by Yuusuke Murata.

Yeah, that's the reason why I'm hoping that he's joking about that. But considering his personality, I don't think he would want to adapt something that will make him look wacky. Reita and Ruki will definitely laugh at him like there's no tomorrow if he has an afro, lol.

I don't really like Aoi with long hair because he looks a lot older with long hair. I want his old hair back ToT. I'm not asking him to put his lip ring back but having the old hairstyle back would be good ^^

Yeah, he did mentioned that he wanted to try dreads too but I thought he wouldn't do that. I just hope Uruha would never think of trying to have afro

I really laughed at your Uruha's ducky face comment, lol

@shouko Yup, that's true. There should be a room for discussion, I mean friendly discussion. After all, isn't great to hear different kinds of opinions?? lol.

Now that you mentioned it, I try to imagine his new hair with DIM outfit. I think he's still looks great in DIM outfit even though with that kind of hair because his hair looks good with any outfit....unless his outfit is goth loli outfit it may look tacky with that kind of hair, lol.

I don't like Ruki's pineapple hair but it's fun to laugh at it. Whenever I'm eating pineapple, it feels like eating him alive, lol.

@nika That's great to hear that you like Kai. Most people that I know like either Ruki or Uruha but rarely Kai. Kai had mentioned in an interview before that he doesn't really like drastic change because he doesn't really want to be noticed. Looks like he has changed his mind about this matter though, lol

That is so true. Now I started to wonder whether do guitarists have similar taste in clothing, lol

Yes, they look great in casual clothing probably because we have seen too much of them in stage outfits. It's nice to see them in casual clothes because we can see their fashion taste. And yeah, Masato really does looks so classy ^^

Yeah, that's true. So far I have never received any hate comment (I hope I won't get one in the future) but it really is annoying to receive such comment. Everybody is entitled to their own opinion so obviously not everyone will agree with you. That's the danger of fandom rules your emotion *shakes head*

Actually I really love that humor. Because of that, I immediately thinks the real pineapple, lol

You're welcome XD. Yup, you just have to put the money just like you usually do and paypal will convert automatically for you.

That's great to hear that you're not mad when we made fun of his new hair. Some fans can be very defensive when it comes to this and it's not surprising thing if I ever get lots of hate comments from them x___x.

Yeah, this DVD is a must buy for Gazette fans, lol

About the currency conversion, you don't have to worry so much about that. Since paypal also support payment in yen, it will convert the currency in yen automatically to euro. It takes about a few days for you to receive receipt from paypal if you order via CDJapan. I hope this will help you.

Anyway, thank you for visiting this blog ^___^

Yup, V-Rock Festival is the first time for Visual-kei bands to be involved in big event. Manatsu no Utage can be considered the same thing but the only difference is it's only just a concert with a few bands performing together.

I'm not sure about that since this is the first time they organize an event specifically for Visual-kei. If this event happens to be successful, they might consider for having this event to be held next year. I myself not really sure about it but I do wish they have this kind of event next year. Even though I don't really like a lot of bands, but listening to other bands' songs can be a good change too.
