Poland's Great and Good
April 12th 2010 09:57
How dreadful must the people of Poland be feeling after the death of their president and many of those in power. Last night on the news there were scenes of mass mourning across Poland, a country that has seen more than its fair share of misery in the last sixty years or so.
Hopefully there is a stability in Poland now that has not been evident for many years and this should help them through the period of mourning to the formation of a new government that will be as well ordered and respected as the one they have lost.
It did seem a case of unusual and sad irony that the spot at which the accident that killed the president happened, was the exact spot of one of the most awful massacres of the Second World War. One can only hope that Poland can come back smilimg out of this tragic occurrence.
