Stronger Together
August 24th 2010 11:50
See to it, brothers, that none of you has a sinful, unbelieving heart that turns away from the living God. But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called Today, so that none of you may be hardened by sin's deceitfulness.
-Hebrews 3:13 (New International Version)
Two people can accomplish more than twice as much as one; they get a better return for their labor. If one person falls, the other can reach out and help. But people who are alone when they fall are in real trouble.
-Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 (New Living Translation)
We live in a world so full of anger, hatred, resentment, bitterness and .... well, the list goes on and on.... that it is tempting to us as Christians to just hang on for dear life and try to keep our own faith in tact until Jesus returns. This sense of mere survival on our own is not, however, how God designed for us to live out our faith. Each believer has his or her own set of unique strengths and weaknesses. We all need each other to get through the challenges and struggles that life sends our way. As we work together to accomplish our goals as believers we can accomplish so much more than any of us ever could alone.
My challenge to you today is to reach out to another believer that you know is struggling. You may be surprised by how much your own faith will be strengthened as you reach out to someone else. Who knows, maybe God has placed something within them that will help you in your walk with God. You never know until you make the effort.
