Yes, even famous people have less famous siblings. Of course, basically no one has heard of our captain Cam Smith's little bro. That's because he's flown under the radar... kind of.
Earlier this year, there was an article in the Herald Sun, and it contained a very cute photo...
matt smith, cam smith

But anyway...
I heard that Matt was moving down here at the start of the year, after a short article about it on the Storm website.
But that's enough from me; here's the two articles that should fill you in on our next hooker (hopefully)!

First post :) More about me...

Hello, I'm Kate (Hello Kate), and I'm a Melbourne-Storm-a-holic. Being 14 years of age and living in country Victoria where not many people follow NRL, let alone rugby in general, I have it pretty tough. My parents think themselves lucky that I'm not obsessed with movie stars or singers (Justin Bieber - ugh!), but instead they blame themselves for the development of 'FrankenStorm.'
I started following rugby league after the deterioration of any former support I had for the Richmond Tigers. I used to sigh and groan when Dad put on the rugby on a Sunday evening, but one night, I didn't go and read a book or do something else equally more entertaining, I decided to sit down and watch it. And I actually found it very entertaining. (What a surprise.) I gradually came to watch it every week, asking my Dad more and more questions about the game. Being about 10 years old, I found the rules way more complicated than that of cricket, but I didn't mind.
By 2007, I was watching almost every round with my Dad, and getting more and more immersed in this sport. So in September of 2007 when we went camping in NSW, and Melbourne Storm had gotten into the finals series, my Dad bought me a tshirt and we were on our way.
By mere coincidence, the caravan we were staying at suddenly changed their TV showing, from a kids movie to the NRL grand final (due to popular demand), and my Dad and I went along, seeing Storm had gotten in. So we sat in the back row with our Storm tshirts on, watching the grand final in a room full of Manly supporters. In fact, the man in the camping site next to us was a huge supporter of Manly, so much so that one day his wife hung his jerseys outside their caravan, and attempted to sell them for $5 each.
By the end of the match, most had left in frustration, but when that final siren went, I felt... amazing. It was as if in that moment, I knew that I had found a sport that I could be passionate for for all my life.
So by time last year's season rolled around, I was pretty much obsessed. My Dad picked up on this, and for the first time I got to go to a game. It was just after the last Origin test, so Coops (swoon) was captain, and we beat the West Tigers 14-12. I then got to go to the last game of the year that we lost, against Manly (16-20).
When we won the second premiership... it was gold. Of course, living in Victoria has its downsides - channel 9 never play games (but I have cable, which is lucky), and if they do (such as the grand final), they have unnecessary ad breaks and early cutoffs. But I have plenty of time to complain about that...
Anyway, for Christmas I got a premiership phone slip, a towel, and a MEMBERSHIP!!! YAYY ME!!
Well, by the start of this season, I was well and truly obsessed. You wouldn't think it could get any worse - but it did. And boy am I proud of it. I get constantly bagged in class, but it's definitely worth it.
But that day... Thursday the 22nd of April (and no I didn't look up a calender to find that out), that was the day it came crashing down.
I'd just gotten home at about 5:30pm, and when it came time to log onto Facebook about 10 minutes later, I was confused at the messages I saw on a fan base wall. But just as Facebook asks questions, it promptly answers them.
I felt sick, like many of you probably did. Physically sick. I could barely eat. That night I had parent teacher interviews, and while the teachers said brilliant things about me and my parents were proud, I couldn't stop thinking about it.
Then, of course, my journalistic mind overtook my passion for the next few days. What had happened? How could it happen? How was everyone taking it? I found out the answer two days after I asked it.
I was one of the lucky few able to have a look at AAMI park a few weeks before its' opening. My Dad and I were originally going to go to the Warriors match, but after I asked about this members' day, my Dad said we should probably just go to that one. But even after the scandal came out, my Dad was having doubts. Would it be safe? We knew that there would be cameras everywhere, but my Dad took the plunge and we went.
And boy, was I happy we did. We got there about 20 minutes after its' official starting time, only to find that it had been on for a few hours. And we were also surprised to find the senior team training on the new turf instead of the under 20's. But the moment when they all walked over... it was magic. And at that moment I knew that I would never back down, as did almost everyone else that was there that day.
And then I got my photo with Hoffy
The last few weeks have been mayhem. Among all of my school stuff (and believe me, there's a lot), I have been contending with my classmates, defending Storm's credibility. It doesn't really help when they call YOU a cheat. But that's just me; I don't have amazingly good comebacks, so I usually look like a fool. But ever since things turned pear shaped, I've been wearing my members' badge, and I shall continue to for as long as I have to... probably until September...
And that brings us to today. I had a casual clothes day at school, and upon wearing my Melbourne Storm scarf, I got some negative comments, but also one of my classmates is now calling me Stormy. Which I don't really mind.
I've also chosen to do my Year 9 Oral Presentation on the whole scandal, so it'll be a laugh to see what happens with that. I'll be doing it later in the week.
Anyway, enough about me: now about this blog.
I really just wanted to create a fansite that has news and results etc. I don't really know what I'm doing here anyway, but I hope that SOMEONE will read it.
*Gulp.*
Haha, that's enough for now; I have some stories to hunt down and post!!
Kate.
