Steve Corica retires

The A-League's oldest player Steve Corica has been forced into early retirement, Corica had announced this was his last season in the A-League but was going to retire at season's end. Corica suffered a hamstring injury in the clubs 2-nil victory over the Melbourne Victory on Sunday.
Corica made 107 appearances with the Sky blues joining them in 2005 after a stint with Walsall where he played from 2002 until 2004 he scored 9 goals during his time at Walsall and scored 24 at the Sky Blues since he moved there. The career of Steve Corica started back in 1990 back in the old NSL with Marconi Stallions and ended in 1995 with him playing 102 games, scoring 14 goals with them he moved to Leicester City in 1995 and was there until 1996 playing 16 games and he only scored the 2 goals. Corica would later move to Wolverhampton Wanderers in 1996 and played 100 games and kicked 6 goals in a career that spanned from 1996 until 2000.
He would move to Japan, and play in their J-League with club Sanfrecce Hiroshima and played 43 games and had 14 goals between 2000 and 2002. He would move to Walsall and would be released from there and finish his career with Sydney FC. Coricas international career started in 1989 playing Under 17's for Australia he would win only 2 caps and scored 1 goal during that time. He returned to the national level with the Under 20s side playing 6 games and didn't manage to find the net between 1990-1991. In 1992 until 1996 he would play in the Under 23 side and won 7 caps during that period, he however didn't find the net for them.
His Socceroo career started in 1993 and ended in 2006, he won 32 caps and found the net 5 times. Sydney FC have dedicated their finals compaign to Steve Corica and will hope tonight to beat Melbourne Victory in their opening leg of the Finals at Etihad Stadium.
