Stan Van Gundy's Poor Decision Cost Them the Game
:
2009 NBA Finals
Van Gundy, being too stubborn to play Nelson and sit Alston out, cost them Game 4. Yes, Jameer Nelson is an All-star, but he has not played for four months. Has this coach understood the term "DECONDITIONED"?
They are playing at the Finals stage, not at any regular season or play-offs stage. We saw Rafer Alston having the hot hands in the first half, but what did Stan Van Gundy decided in exchange? He decided to play Nelson at the majority of the second half. Yes, Nelson has dished out couple of assists, but he doesn't have the foot yet, to match the speed of the Lakers guards.
And what was the result...D-Fish draining a triple to bring the game into overtime. What did Jameer Nelson do at that moment? Just stared at a shooting Fisher...
And then comes the OT period. Kobe dished off from a double team, Fisher gets the ball, wide open three point shot! Where was Nelson? Nowhere to be found...
Final secconds...rebound contest at Orlando court, Nelson is suppossed to guard the backcourt, a Laker player tapped the ball into the hands of Pau Gasol, securing a fast-break dunk. Nelson wasn't able to go after the running Pau Gasol, because he was too deep into the rebound contest where he is not suppose to involve himself...
Nothing against Nelson...but I think it all boils down to POOR DECISION-MAKING!
Fisher, and Ariza my keyplayers for LA, were sensational. they never gave up and make Phil Jackson proud everytime they're on the court.
I EXPECT LAKERS TO WIN THE SERIES ON SUNDAY...
