on Banks launch assault on Mortgage Broker market

December 5th 2008 02:57
I can't help but agree with you Beagle.

You see this with other industries (Woolworths vs the local baker, butcher, grocer). In areas without one of these services there is anecdotal evidence that large businesses will milk every bloody cent they can out of the consumer.

Need I draw anyone's attentions to what home loan interest rates were before Mortgage Brokers became well known?

Trust me, the Banks would love to kill off the Brokers. If that service wasn't there, where would a consumer go?...direct to the Bank of course. The Fat Cats in the upper echelons would be rubbing their lucky bellies with glee over that one.

As a consumer, I wouldn't mind paying a little bit extra to obtain a mortgage with an Institute that actually rewarded it's Brokers with renumeration comensurate with their work and abilities - not a Bank that decided they can live off a deep lungful of air.

After all, how could you trust Westpac, Commonwealth Bank, NAB, St George and Suncorp not to shaft you once their done grinding the Broker's into the dirt?

But then again, I'm sure the Banks wouldn't do that to their customers. After all they have passed on all the interest rate cuts the Reserve Bank have put in place.

Oh wait a sec....no, they didn't.

Stick with it mate, I love your latest...though I feel your pain when it comes to people taking your money then basically sneering that you'll never be good enough!

Out of the blue success stories do happen, and you've got what it takes to be one

on Paralympics Coverage – It’s an embarrassment!

September 9th 2008 23:00
You read my mind Beagle.

I was just thinking about this - about how poor it was that all our athletes weren't receiving the 'media love' that they deserved (...knowing the media, perhaps this is not such a bad thing?...another blog perhaps?).

To be fair, they also received a grand send off from Canberra. Most of my disappointment and ire is directed at channel Seven - obviously our paralympians aren't 'pretty enough' to bask in the purity that is Seven.

Maybe it's something to do with our own psyche. I mean if these 'handicapped' (...yes, I do use this term deliberately and derisively, these magnificent athletes are anything but...) people can get themselves motivated to train to become some of the most premier athletes in the world, then what does that say about us couch potatoes?

Uncomfortable thought...yes?

Yar...gotta agree here.

How is this all going to pan out? Will the child go back to India? Will she stay with her foster parents?...her 'real' parents in her eyes?

However this resolves itself, I can imagine there will be some heartache.

I have a more cynical view of all this, but I simply cannot bring myself to put it here - simply because I think it's all too horrid and far-fetched (?) to be true.

*sigh* Damn you conscience...out!...out I say!

Glad to help on the sniff patrol Mr Beagle!

...and you're right on Miss J (Miss Jane?...like out of Mr Squiggle?...anyway...) - I can well imagine that if it was 'personal' money, not a cent of it would be going to "benefit the people of Queensland" (as the QR spokeswoman was quoted as saying).

Ha!

I may be a dog, but at least I'm not a pig!

Pig dogs are OK though... O.O
