Songs of the Day.
June 21st 2007 10:36
Music is an important thing and is nearly always being played in our home, or being sung, hummed, tapped out and so on. So I thought I'd try each day to have two songs that I'm loving and post the lyrics and why I like these songs so much.
Today's choices are.
Stereophonics
Dakota
Thinking about thinking of you
Summertime think it was June
Yeah think it was June
Laying back, head on the grass
Children grown having some laughs
Yeah having some laughs.
Made me feel like the one
Made me feel like the one
The one
Made me feel like the one
Made me feel like the one
The one
Drinking back, drinking for two
Drinking with you
And drinking was new
Sleeping in the back of my car
We never went far
Needed to go far
Made me feel like the one
Made me feel like the one
The one
Made me feel like the one
Made me feel like the one
The one
I don't know where we are going now
I don't know where we are going now
Wake up cold coffee and juice
Remembering you
What happened to you?
I wonder if we'll meet again
Talk about us instead
Talk about why did it end
Made me feel like the one
Made me feel like the one
The one
Made me feel like the one
Made me feel like the one
The one
I don't know where we are going now
I don't know where we are going now
So take a look at me now
This song just reminds me of summer and even though it's looking back on what seems like a past relationship that ended it's recalling some happy memories from that time. I keep hearing this everywhere I go at the moment too.
The next choice is hard, it's a toss up between Coldplay's Fix You and Sarah McLachlan's Angel, both sad songs but I just love to listen to.
Sarah McLachlan
Angel
Spend all your time waiting
for that second chance
for a break that would make it okay
there's always one reason
to feel not good enough
and it's hard at the end of the day
I need some distraction
oh beautiful release
memory seeps from my veins
let me be empty
and weightless and maybe
I'll find some peace tonight
In the arms of an angel
fly away from here
from this dark cold hotel room
and the endlessness that you fear
you are pulled from the wreckage
of your silent reverie
you're in the arms of the angel
may you find some comfort there
So tired of the straight line
and everywhere you turn
there's vultures and thieves at your back
and the storm keeps on twisting
you keep on building the lie
that you make up for all that you lack
it don't make no difference
escaping one last time
it's easier to believe in this sweet madness oh
this glorious sadness that brings me to my knees
in the arms of an angel
fly away from here
from this dark cold hotel room
and the endlessness that you fear
you are pulled from the wreckage
of your silent reverie
you're in the arms of the angel
may you find some comfort there
you're in the arms of the angel
may you find some comfort here.

Flashes of memories
I`m so bad with songs - thank you YouTube LOL!
I love the Stereophonics song... I was singing along too! It`s funny how some songs SOUNG so good but when you actually listen to the lyrics you are quite taken aback by the meaning of the song.
Angel? oh my word that is such a great song. I love this song - it`s one of those songs that you would have plugged in to your ears, lying in the grass on a warm sunny afternoon watching the clouds float across the sky and thoughts.... all of your own... drifting through your head.
Thanks for the journey Sarah
