Somebody Done Me Wrong Songs
February 6th 2008 03:11
I've always been the sort of gal who enjoys the melody of a song and the the story it tells. I pay close attention to the heart-throbbing drama that plays out in country music. Lately I've been hearing an old boy sing about wanting to hear what he calls another somebody-done-somebody-wrong song.
Many of the old country songs are about love. Especially about love gone sour.
Are you suffering a case of those danged ole heart-bleedin' blues? If so, I recommend drowning your sorrows to one of my personal favorites - Don Williams. In his deep hypnotic, baritone fashion, he delivered "Some Broken Hearts Never Mend". A song you may find yourself playing continuously with a tissue at hand ... or perhaps just your sleeve.
In terms of melancholy love-condemning songs, Patsy Cline has certainly earned an elite place on the "unforgettables" list. Both men and women alike, have submerged themselves into the lyrical declarations of her bemoaning-the-blues ballads like "She's Got You" and "I Fall to Pieces".
Well folks listen to the rest for the some good 'ole gut wrenching songs
1. Cold Cold Heart by Hank Williams
2. Hello Walls by Faron Young
3. He'll Have to Go by Jim Reeves
4. Crazy Arms by Ray Price
5. Just Someone I Used to Know by Porter Wagoner
6. Fist City by Loretta Lynn
7. Jolene by Dolly Parton
8. Linda on My Mind by Conway Twitty
9. Some Broken Hearts Never Mend by Don Williams
10. How Can i Face Tomorrow by Patsy Cline

Saw Glen Campbell at the Sydney Opera House playing alongside the Sydney Symphony Orchestra.
Great night's 'mature' entertainment from a man who (at almost 72 - can you believe it?) still has a beautful mellow tone wonderful range and can play a the steel strings as well as anyone I've seen.
He actually paid homage to alot of the greats including Hank Williams.
A very humble man who has given the music so much including Galveston, By The Time I Get To Phoenix, Rhinestone Cowboy yaddah yaddah yaddah.
Diversity in musical tastes is a wonderful thing - its a culinary delight that I'm so glad I've been able to bring to my children's table to feast on as well.
Cheers

For country--two words--Brad Paisley. AND the female singers are something else these days!
Anyhoo,
Okay--I've been racking my brain for the past ten minutes!!! I've got it--BJ Thomas's "Another Somebody Done Somebody Wrong Song!" I remember this from when he was MUCH younger! *L* I can't get the embedding but...

Glen Campbell is one of my dad's favorite entertainers.. I have not seen him perform in the past decade. I am glad to hear that he was great in concert.
I am glad to hear that he is still so humble.

Agreed! The MNG clan are very lucky indeed!

I agree with you...
How Can I Face Tomorrow" is potentially one of the best country tracks of Patsy's decade.
Thanks for your kind words for hanging with me!
