So... Life...

So dear Oblelites I have a spare few moments and thought I'd update about life in the White House. Things are still hectic, but then that's pretty normal life for a SAHM I hear. We are well and truly settled in our new home, can't believe it's 4 months nearly since we moved in. The time has flown by. We've spent a good part of it in our new garden, working on it, trying to make it more than just a bit of grass and concrete. We now have a flowerbed with an array of different plants, trees, flowers, bushes etc in it and more to come! We have a goal post for those all important family get togethers, a tippee for Callum to picnic in, a slide for the cars to zoom down, a patio set and a PINK BBQ! Yes PINK!!!! Oh and a couple of huge paddling pools and some planters. There is still lots more that needs doing but we're getting there and it's good enough to leave now and get started on the front garden and inside the house. I'm trying to persuade our Landlord aka Daz to let us do a deal with rent and a new kitchen. The current kitchen desperately needs work doing to it but Landlordaddy is a little reluctant, I'm sure we can wear him down though. Nothing else really needs much doing in the house, just a few licks of paint and new flooring in the bathroom and that's it really.
So how are Daz, Callum and I? We're great! I think Daz enjoys being closer to work so he gets more time at home with us and added bonus now we can all get the bus together in the morning! Why? Well at long last we got Callum into a school in the borough. It's still a 2 bus ride journey but if the buses run on time it's only a 30 minute journey. The school is still being built so it only has the Nursery and Reception years there but that's still a lot of kids and they are all in a temporary building. Callum seems to like his new school although it is very different from his old school and there seem to sadly be a few language barriers but we'll get pass all that. For the time being it will do and we are still on the waiting lists for the schools that we can walk to. It's great though all being able to get the bus together in the morning and on the way home from school Callum and I walk pass Daz' office so if we have time we pop in and see him and if not it's a hurried wave as we run past to get our bus home.
The other amazing thing is to see how much Callum has grown up. I look at him at times and wonder where that little innocent baby has gone but he makes me so proud of the wonderful, funny, caring, sensitive person he is turning into. Oh and he is still on his crusade to get a baby brother!
As for me, I'm happy and loving life. I finally feel as though I've found my place in life and I'm happy to stay here. There are maybe a few things I'd like to change, mostly lonliness during the daytime and not really knowing anyone in the area but I'm looking at ways to combat that. One of them being maybe joining the local Neighbourhood Watch Team, I feel I have something to offer with the experiences we had living at the flat and also it will hopefully be a good way to meet more of my neighbours. We'll see how it goes. I'm still into the photography and looking at getting myself a DSLR once I'm over the confusion of which one to get and in September and even thinking about looking for a job so that we can maybe look at buying into our wonderful home.
So there is my update, a little haphazard but hey that's me!
Oh and for those interested here's a link to my flickr photos so you can see stuff.

Flashes of memories
Good to see you again! Having been in the UK for the past 2 months I hear you on the bus here and there and everywhere business! I`m certainly not used to that in Aus... but hey soon it will be time to return to reality and leave the buses far behind!
Sounds like you and your family are doing well in your new home. It`s wonderful to hear that you have found your place and are happy. I pray that will continue for you all. Look forward to checking out your flickr pics

Your house sounds great and it's lovely that Dad works so close to home.
I'm with Callum on the kid, but someone should warn him that girl babies come as often as boy babies. At least that's something I no longer have to worry about, and it is amazing how Callum has grown.
Keep up with the photography, it's a marvellous thing to do.

It is amazing how little ones change once they start school. They just mature so much.

Ash - you've been in the UK? Cool!!!! I hope you had a fun time. Oh and I love buses, much nicer than the tube/train but yes they do take a while to get somewhere. Callum's going through a bus craze at the moment, everything is about buses. He's such a geek. lol. As for my pink BBQ? I just told the boys I wanted one and they said ok. Daz and Callum both laugh at my pink love but they let me get away with it because I'm the only girl. Thank you for the kind comments and thoughts too, it feels great to at last found that place... even if it does leak with the heavy rainfalls.
Katy - The loneliness I found strange, I'm from a big family (eldest of 7 kids!) and love company so it kinda got me down a bit. I'm getting there though and yesterday joined the local neighbourhood watch. As for the baby, we'll just see. It doesn't help that I'm constantly feeling broody but I have quite a few fears. But it's not a closed book. Oh and Callum is growing up too quickly, I can't believe next month he'll be five years old, where has my baby gone?
Mrs M - Thank you, life has been good. I know that the three of us have been extremely lucky in our new start and I'm very grateful for it.
I hope you are all and your families well. I wish I could get more time to hang out here I miss reading all your wonderful words.
Hugs to you all.
Sarah.
