Kate is GONE!

Okay, so maybe this isn't exactly "breaking news" but.... that's what the "more" is for in the topic. Lately, not much has been going on in the news locally in CA so, what better time than now to add some entertainment new?

For the past several years, I have been watching DWTS, not only to see the great dancing but also to see some of the worst there is! From Jerry Springer to Kim Kardashian to now... Kate Gosselin??? I'm sorry but... why is she even on the show? Aren't the non-professional partners supposed to be celebrities?

Apparently, according to some, Kate is a celebrity. What she is NOT is a good dancer. Finally, yesterday, after 5 weeks of torture having to watch her try to dance, the public realized it and finally voted her off. What a relief because, her stiffness, lack of emotion, sarcastic attitude and, not to mention, the rude way she interacted with her partner during rehearsals was more than I could bare! It was so bad at one point that her partner, Tony Dolovani, temporarily quit the show... I guess now we all know that John may not be at all to blame after all for the dissolution of their marriage!

I don't know about the rest of the viewers but, in the many seasons the show has been on the air, I've yet to see someone that seems so angry and mean. The show is supposed to be uplifting and maybe now that Kate is finally gone it will be!

UCLA Attacker Arrested!

On Tuesday April 13, 2010, UCLA officials announced their arrest of a 63-year-old man from Bakersfield, California. The arrest comes after numerous sexual attacks were reported by women on and around the UCLA campus in the past month. UCLA police said they believe they have caught the man that is responsible for more than seven attacks on women in the area in recent weeks.

Campus police stated that Calixto Marcellana Nitro was arrested just after 6:00 p.m. Monday evening as a result of a sting operation along Westwood Boulevard.Nitro was allegedly caught trying to grope a woman's groin area and immediately arrested.

He was booked and released on suspicion of misdemeanor sexual battery.

UCLA police said they believe Nitro is responsible for seven previous attacks between March 8 and last Wednesday. Nitro's method of attack was to prey on women that were walking while talking on their cell phones and appeared to be somewhat distracted. He would wait until they approach and then grope them. The attacks occurred in the late afternoon and early evening.

Shooting at Valley Village Restaurant: Suspect Galstyan Identified

On Saturday, April 3, 2010 at 4:30 p.m., there was a shooting at the Hot Spot Mediterranean restaurant on Riverside drive in Valley Village, CA. Four men died as a result and two others were hospitalized. The dead men were identified as Harut Baburyan, 28, Sarkis Karadjian, 26, Vardan Tofalyan, 31, and Hayk Yegnanyan, 25.

LAPD believe the shooting is gang related and most likely tied with Armenian gangs. This afternoon, LAPD held a news conference stating they have identified the suspect through significant physical evidence as 28 year old Nerses Arthur Galstyan.

They believe Galstyan is still in the area and are asking for the public's help in apprehending him. If you have any information, you are asked to contact the LAPD's North Hollywood station at (818) 623-4016.

Wife of Producer Found Dead in Cancun, Husband Arrested

Monica Beresford-Redman, the wife of prominent Hollywood producer Bruce Beresford-Redman, was found Thursday in Cancun, Mexico at the Moon Palace resort where she was on vacation with her family.

I've been following this story recently since I have a planned vacation to Mexico coming up and, I'm happy to hear this was not a random act of violence or a sign that it's unsafe to travel to Cancun

Former Giants Football Player Tiki Barber Leaves Pregnant Wife for Former NBC Intern Traci Johnson

Through a press release (added below), Tiki Barber, the former Giants running back, announced that he is leaving his pregnant wife of 11 years, Ginny Barber, while she's pregnant expecting twins! He's leaving her for former NBC intern Traci Johnson.

Update on 7.1 Mexico Quake

Although initial reports stated that there no casualties as a result of the quake, there have been 2 deaths reported as a result. Two men in two separate instances died when the homes they were in collapsed. In Mexicali, 40-50 homes and business were destroyed but most of the severe damage was in the small farming communities on the outskirts of the city. There have been numerous after shocks of varying degrees since Saturday's quake.

7.2 Earthquake hits Baja California!!!

A 7.2 magnitude earthquake hit baja California Sunday afternoon at approximately 3:40pm. It his about 100 miles east of San Diego. I felt it in Los Angeles and it seemed to have gone on forever. It was a rolling motion and defnitely made everything in my house shake, along with the water in my pool outside! Mexico reported minor damage such as broken windows, pipes and temporarily loss of power. Other than that, the earthquake was not as devastating as it could have been. Fire responded to rescue guests stuck in a hotel elevator and so far only minor injuries were reported.

Three aftershocks were reported within an hour of it happening ranging between 4.3 and 5.1 in magnitude. It's reported that it was felt as far up north as Santa Barbara and as far east as Arizona
