The Wonder of A New Year
January 10th 2009 02:57
I'm in the wonder of the new year. There were a lot of decisions to make as the old year made way for the new. First I admitted I'm a blog addict. It's a good thing since I love to write. Second I got into photography with FILM. Right now I'm using an old camera I bought at a thrift shop. I'm posting one of the pictures I took with it of my patio in winter. But I warn you I did a little work on it to give it a dreamy effect with Picasa.
I wish I could do the whole dark room thing but I'm allergic to chemical fumes. Still I get a kick out of film camera photos.
Don't get me wrong I like Digital cameras. But I lost one a few years ago and that kind of money hasn't grown on a tree yet to replace it. So for now I'm having a really nice time with this old film camera until I buy another Digital, that will be another month or so.
Besides blogging like I've lost my mind, I'm active on Twitter and a few content sites. Seems I've created a habit of posting here only periodically. I think I'm trying to figure out exactly what it is I'm doing here.
But one thing I'm learning about blogs and writing is each one has a sort of personality of their own. They refuse to conform to anything other than what they should be. This site for instance, I post here as if by instinct. Suddenly one day I just think it's time. One time Orble contacted me about my serious neglect. But I think there is more to it. Blogs are not like traditional writing. There is no set standard to impose or a particular type of writing you must attend to. The day that happens blogs will no longer have any appeal. Bad writing or good you just plug away until that confidence comes.
I'm still working on trying to write well. It's hard to gauge sometimes, especially on the Internet with blogs. You have to post at such a steady pace to establish them well on the Web. Quality can get lost. After all you're a one woman (or man) publication, writer, editing, and all the other hats it takes like promotion.
On the other hand you do learn your way around and get better in the long run.
Here is the address to one of my blogs, the one I've had the longest and almost gave up. But maybe that's another post...I'm glad I didn't let the Orble blog go. There is just something about it. Hope to figure it out this year.
