There was obviously something a little loose when that was written!
'Stone Cold Crazy' - don't know who the original artist is, but Metallica did a brilliant job of it on 'Garage Days'.
'Drive' by The Cars? That one has me puzzled.

"...Build my fear of what's out there
Cannot breathe the open air
Whisper things into my brain
Assuring me that I'm insane
They think our heads are in their hands
But violent use brings violent plans
Keep him tied, it makes him well
He's getting better, can't you tell? ..."
A shiver up my spine every time....

I agree with you 100% about that Beatles tune!
I love the Metallica cover while also appreciating Queen's version of Stone Cold Crazy...
To answer your question regarding "Drive" . I heard an interview by Rick Okasek who said that this song
"was melancholy and was written from the perspective of someone wondering if anyone will be there for him when he needs someone."

There is not much from Metallica I don't like!
