Smoking Ban and the Dutch Dopers
June 29th 2008 12:20
Perhaps the Dutch have found a way to put marijuanna coffee shops out of business. They are one of the last in the EU to ban smoking in bars. It wouldn't be so bad except that most Europeans mix marijuana with tobacco. They're doing it wrong!
Am I the only one who sees a health crisis? Holding in tobacco, like pot, can really lead to health problems. By no means am I saying that pot doesn't contribute to lung and other problems, but tobacco is over 10 times worse. The simultaneous use can be deadly.
From the article:
...cannabis abuse in Holland ranks somewhere in the middle compared to other nations and is lower than in the U.S., France and England, according to statistics compiled by the United Nations' Office on Drugs and Crime.
They should study the aging pot-using population to see if health or death contributes to a low number. The Dutch pot is VERY high in THC. THC is getting high, no pun, in the US, too, and contrary to popular belief, is widespread among young people. Something I hope was considered is the differences in population. Holland is a small to tiny country compared to the US and France, thus the study should be per capita.
