Smallville might return for a ninth season?

According to tv.com Tom Welling is thinking about returning for a ninth season of Smallville. I don't mean to be rude but I think it time to end it already. Even though I love Smallville, I think it has run its course. I think if they were to make a great ending for this last season, it would finish off the series very nicely.I remember hearing somewhere ,from the creators of Smallville, that we would never see Clark Kent in blue tights and a red cape. I mean, how much more story could they do after Doomsday (Superman's ultimate rival)?

Randomness - Did Clark ever actually finish his college degree? I mean after the whole brainiac thing we never actually see him finish college. Where did he ever find the time? I mean, I'm assuming he finished since he was able to get a job at the Daily Planet. Another thing that was bothering me was why hasn't Clark learned how to fly yet? I mean he is on the verge of facing doomsday, and he can't even freakin fly yet! I don't know, maybe we'll see that this season.
