Small town girl leaves home - London
I have loads of work to do over the next week or so, plus I have to study for this bloody Citizenship Test so the next few posts are the rest of the story. Sorry i can`t reply, but thanks for taking the journey - have a fab week party people!
The edge of the Amusement Park where my ride was located ran along the cracked and deserted road that stretched along the seafront. Above us loomed the cliffs on which the town was situated. There was no fence around the park, anyone could walk in and out whenever they wanted to and I was in a really secluded part, a ride almost on its own on the far side from the car park and the main entry point. A small white fence was erected around the train, meaning that I had only one way to get in and get out and these men were sitting directly opposite the gate.
I watched the group all afternoon, thinking I was imagining that they were staring at me and I waited for them to leave. Hours ticked by and they were still there, still watching and every now and again talking on a mobile. Once in a while one of them would saunter off into the park and disappear from sight, but they were never gone for long. The sun was starting to go down and my side of the park was becoming quiet as all the small kids left for the day.
I left for my dinner break and two of the men got up and followed at a distance. My stomach was churning by now as I thought of having to leave at 11pm, in the dark. A series of narrow, winding lanes led down from the main town to the harbour and then it was a short walk along the seafront to the Amusement Park. No one would be escorting us home, we had no money to call a taxi and all the shops were closed by the time we were ready to leave. The cobbled streets that led us up to town and home suddenly appeared in my mind like those depicted from some old movie where Jack the Ripper prowled in the shadows, and I prepared myself for the run that I would have to take to get home that night. A panicked bundle of tears lumped in my throat, but I swallowed them down. I noticed a security guard leaning against one of the vending machines and mentioned it to him to which he replied they would keep an eye out for anything suspicious.
Returning to work I noticed that they were still there, still watching and the clock was ticking closer to home time. I felt sick and then faint when, at a quarter to 11, they disappeared down the dark road. Meeting up with my friend, I mentioned what had happened and we clocked out, standing in the shadows to check and see if anyone was around and steadying ourselves for our run home. Eventually we plucked up the courage and ran… and ran…. and R.A.N.! These events continued for 3 days until my nerves could take it no more and I reported them to security, having them escorted off the premises. There was nothing more they could do as these men had not approached me or done anything to me. The next day I was having lunch when the man with the black eyes approached me with a teddy bear. ‘I am sorry if we scared you, we meant no harm.’ He left the teddy on the table, turned around and walked away and they never came back again. I was stunned, relieved, sick and confused all at once and to this day have no idea what it was all about!
At the same time I was having problems at home with my cousins’ friend, a very large and nasty piece of work. After an extremely heated argument one night over some money he owed me things ended up a little sticky and the next day I called in sick at work and ventured out into town, early, for some peace and quiet. I returned at lunch time to see my clothes, my food and every item I owned lying on the sidewalk in front of the house. I was gutted! We had taken our first bit of money and gone and bought proper food for two weeks which now lay defrosting, running in rivers along the cracks in the pavement. The doors were locked and we had no keys to get in, my friend telling me that he had gone on a rampage and told us to go! We had no money again, all of it having gone on food and house bills. We had nowhere to go, no job to go to and no one to come and help us out.
I saw red! I was so angry I could hardly breathe. I managed to sneak in through a window, pulled all his clothes out from his cupboard and found his passport. Being paranoid about fingerprints I carefully wrapped the passport in a plastic bag and hid it on top of the kitchen cupboard, well out of sight, leaving a note scribbled on his bed – I WANT MY MONEY. I HAVE YOUR PASSPORT. YOU KNOW HOW TO GET HOLD OF ME. We quickly packed up what we could salvage and left for London with no plan, 20 pounds between us and not even a bar of battery on our phones to find the numbers of anyone who could possibly help. I was tired, adventures had come a little too close for my liking and with a very precious 50p I rang the airline to book a ticket home for a short visit. We sat in the busy waiting room at the bus station watching as people boarded buses going to everywhere that we could not. It was a Saturday night, we were in London and very soon we would be kicked out onto the streets as the place closed for the night.

I should have confronted them when there were people around - that would have been safer then me choosing to run through dark alleyways with only another girl! But then again I never really do what I`m supposed to!
