VERMONT SKIING AT ITS PEAK
March 9th 2010 23:28
It's that time of year that skiers and riders longer for, deep base depths,
warm afternoon temps with lingering sunshine to bring out the passion
in us all. The teeth rattling high winds of January and below zero temps
are long gone.........now it's time for on the slopes wine and cheese
picnics, base area BBQs and cruising the trails till you drop.
Most of the higher elevation resorts in Vermont, like Killington, are
near 100 percent trails open. Legal ones that is. Base depths in
the secret stash shots off the backside are currently high and
forgiving under the March soleil.
Views from the summit of Killington Peak today were in the 200 mile
plus range. While more southernly ski areas are in their dreaded,
melt-down stage, Killington right now, has the potential to keep
skiing and riding into early June.
March and April are the prime time months to ski and ride at the
higher elevation resorts in Vermont. All that early season snowmaking
and cold temps are paying off now!
