I'm just a film and TV lover who likes to say a thing or two about the entertainment business.

About Me
I used to work as a projectionist at a small theater. Unfortunately, I had to move and get a 'full-time' job. Bloody student loans!

I miss working at that small theater, but I try to get to my local theater as much as possible to keep up with what's going on in Hollywood.

I write for my personal film blog here as well as for www.chickflickreviews.net

I'm also in the beginning stages of starting a small vlog for my reviews.

Hobbit Trailer of Epic Size

December 22nd 2011 18:59
You've already seen it. I've seen it 100 times but I can't pass up talking about it a bit.

First off, I'm convinced that Martin Freeman is actually a Hobbit.

Secondly, Gollum? You are one creepy creeper. I was getting flashbacks to reading the Hobbit at 1 AM as a kid.

The dwarves look so perfect! Not overly comical at all.

And everything just takes me back to being a teen and watching these movies! It's like going home again.

I know- I'm a geek.

Needless to say: I can't wait to go back to Middle-Earth. I have a whole year to prepare!

Insidious

December 1st 2011 23:27
I'm not a huge fan of horror movies but I'll watch a few a year to get me accustomed to the genre. My friends tempted me with this one by dropping the names of the lead actors (Rose Byrne & Patrick Wilson <3) and the writer behind Paranormal Activity.

I like a good ghost story. I use to love hearing them around a campfire as a kid. And those ghost themed Unsolved Mysteries- nothing better. So the first half of the movie was pretty good. The film had a few good jump-in-my-seat moments which I prefer over gory thrills (personal preference).

There was a nice dash of comedy! I liked the 'ghost hunter' type duo. Nice funny nod to Jason and Grant from the Sci-Fi channel.

Unfortunately, the last part of the film didn't live up to the first half. Just seemed to get random and silly. Seriously, Darth Maul demon?

SPOILERS! The film's unique plot point was astral projection. I thought that was a nice touch. Over all the film wasn't fantastic but wasn't a waste of time either.

Doesn't look all that exciting.

More comedy and family friendly yes, but in my small opinion The Huntsman wins this round.

50/50

November 12th 2011 05:55
I took one of my closest friends out to see 50/50 last night. I didn't expect it to be so serious and she didn't expect it to be so funny.

Our perspectives are very appropriate because the film was carefully balanced between the two. Very funny and true during some scenes and then surprisingly heartbreaking in others

Snow White is the new bad ass

November 10th 2011 23:19
Meaning Snow White and the Huntsman - the trailer was just released.

I've been a fan of Snow White for years, probably because strangers would say that I looked like her when I was a child. Honestly though- I probably only looked like her 'cause of my insanely pasty skin but I took it as a compliment regardless

King Corn

November 7th 2011 19:26
Continuing on my health food kick- I started watching an overabundance of health related documentaries.

A couple of weeks ago I watched this one: King Corn. King Corn follows two college friends as they relocate to Iowa to grow their own acre of corn and follow it to the american dinner table

Paranormal Activity 3

October 27th 2011 04:55
Paranormal Activity 3 is a prequel to the first two movies. It shows the start of the paranormal activity that has haunted Katie and her sister Kristi since their childhood. Katie being the woman being terrorized by strange activity in the first film and Kristi being the mother in the second film.

The Help

October 20th 2011 02:45
The Help is based on the best selling novel of the same name by Kathryn Stockett. I usually like to read a book before watching a movie, but in this case I saw the movie before picking up the book.

The film takes place in the early 1960s in Mississippi when a black woman’s primary job was keeping house for the upper-middle class white women of that area. Skeeter (Emma Stone) sets out to write a book and decides that the topic should be about the black women of Mississippi

Me and half of the geeks on tumblr were just refreshing and refreshing the page till this became available. And when it did, there were gifs, and screen captures, and parodies online in less then 10 minutes.

Ok, a few things

Miss Representation 8 Minute Trailer

October 6th 2011 16:12
Saw this on tumblr and was blown away. As a woman I KNOW all of this but to watch all the facts brought together- it brings all the vague assumptions and feelings into reality.

I'm looking forward to watching the whole documentary

on Trailer 2 of the Day: THE AVENGERS

I just blogged about this one as well...a little late. But better late then never right?

Can't wait to see this one!

And I must say- Daniel is looking very grown up and handsome.

I'm a huge comic book fan! And actually, Capt. is my favorite. If there is a dud in the bunch, I hope It isn't this one. There are things about it that have me worried though. Keeping my fingers crossed.

It kinda makes me sad that the projectionist is becoming extinct. I actually moved from that little town and alas am no longer a projectionist (2 years was a good run). I miss it, one of the best jobs!

I'm pretty sure that the small theater I was at won't be getting digital projectors anytime soon. They don't really make a lot of money so they can't afford the digital ones. If there comes a day when all movies are digital then that theater may just shut down.

How's the transition going for you guys?

This trailer was a lot better then the super bowl teaser.

And I'm excited! It looks great! Not super fantastic, but great!

And yea, Chris Evans is sure easy on the eyes.

Shoulda known you'd be the leading expert on Disney tunes.

I agree on the score- but the vocal numbers didn't do it for me. Not bad at all- just forgettable.

BTWs you have a blog! Subscribing like no ones bizzness!

Hey Jason!

It's funny. I can't stop thinking about it! I want to go see it again! And you've already seen it twice? Wow. I'm definitely going back for a second and possibly third viewing!

And I agree about the visuals. Mindblowing! Looking forward to having my mind blown again. Thanks for the comment!

Hey Bryn!

This was definitely one of my must-see-movies of 2010. And I do believe it's in my top 10 of 2010.

Yea! I noticed the first bit didn't need the glasses. I took them off and looked around at everyone with their funky glasses still on. It was great.

"bio-digital-cosmic-jazz" couldn't have said it better myself. Thanks for the comment.
