Should the Girl Ever Propose?
January 16th 2007 03:15
There are only two viable instances I can think of in which it would be ok for the girl to propose.
The first is if you're in a lesbian relationship. Duh.
The second is if you're Anna Nicole Smith and you wanna get things moving before he dies so you can make, I don't know what was it? 60 billion dollars?
Other than that, I strongly believe that the female in the relationship should NEVER propose., it is TOTALLY up to the guy because if girls start doing that then what is there left for the guy to do?
Hell, we are already carrying babies for 9 months and giving birth. Let him feel the pressure for once (even if it does not compare in the slightest to childbirth), don't you think?
These days, girls are making the first move, asking out the blokes, buying him the drinks, initiating the first kiss - the list could go on for ever. Has the power of the female made life too easy for the modern man?
I think so.
Of course there's nothing wrong with hinting at your future intentions and asking your future mother-in-law to put in a few good words for you, but getting down on one knee and asking him yourself? I know I couldn't do it.
Firstly, because my fiance is so tall that if I were down on one knee I'd break my neck trying to look up at him.
Secondly, because I'd cry so much that I wouldn't be able to get the words out and he would just think I was retarded.
Call me old-fashioned, but there is just something so special about being asked and I think no girl should miss out on that experience.
What do you think? Should the girl ever propose?

Bee and Carlia - I think that is fair enough. In fact, both your responses are v sensible and I'm sure if I think through this topic some more, I'd probably realise just how right you both are. Until then I'll just keep sayin No WAY
