As if it wasn't a tell-tale sign based on it's sudden almost "Out Of The Blue" advertising blitz. The recently released movie "How She Move" is essentially a cliche Step-Dancing movie following in the foot-steps of such films as "Stomp The Yard".

The general plot line consists of a main character who is booted from medical school for financial reasons and returns to her roots. From the ashes of this tragedy she is forced to enter a step-dancing competition to earn a $50,000 cash prize so she can return to medical school.

The rest of the movie's plot is really not worth discussing since the previously mentioned parts have defeated the film entirely. From the start whoever invested in this film should be ashamed. After having forced the world to suffer through "Stomp The Yard", you would think Studios would just stop making these Step Dancing movies - cut their losses and spare their pride. Yet - no.

So here's a new one. Except this one has a twist. "How She Move" has an educational backdrop and helps to illustrate how important this girl's education and success really are to her. It's a story of triumph and determination. It's the tale of one girl overcoming the odds and showing the world what she's made of. Of course... you'd have to overlook some major flaws with this plot-line.

1. Where on earth anyone finds a Step-Dancing competition that pays out a flat $50,000 I have no idea. I spent a good 15 minutes searching the web and couldn't even find a Step-Dance competition that paid anything at all.

2. How the hell did anyone who uses syntax and terminology like "How She Move" get into medical school? WAIT! I spoke too soon. What I meant to say was: "How did she pass the 6th grade??"

Yes, all in all, this movie was another Hollywood attempt to reach out to urban youth and create what could be a "Hip","Trendy", dance movie. Unfortunately the message they send is that urban youth is full of illiterate idiots who can fund their goals in life by dancing for huge cash prizes.... Way to patronize and bastardize a large cultural group.
