Let me start by saying that I used to watch this show. Season One was edge-of-you-seat good. But now it's so horrible! I quit watching at the end of last season when they jumped ahead five years. That felt like a jumping the shark moment for me.

My biggest complaint about the show is how uneven the writing is. Yes, there's a certain level of suspension of belief that's necessary to believe so many murders and so much intrigue could occur on one block, but it's the "reality" moments that tick me off!

I'll focus on Lynette and Tom. She's suppose to be a modern mom, a role model for people balancing work and family. So what happens when she goes out into the workplace? She acts immature and manipulative. It was like watching a teenage mom on the prom committee. They didn't like her stained clothes so she got offended. Of course you can't wear stained clothes to work! She didn't approve of a coworker breastfeeding her young child so she corrupted him with chocolate milk instead of dealing with the situation like an adult. When she buys clothes the family can't afford, she bribes her husband with golf clubs so he won't make her take the clothes back. Yes, going twice as far into debt makes total sense.

I also hate that the writers act like we live in a pop culture vacuum. The story line where the neighbor no one has heard of dies and Lynette gets involved? Seen those "plot twists" before! When the family shows up to claim the ashes, Lynette decides they're not showing enough respect for the woman SHE never talked to before so she exchanges the ashes with whatever was in the vacuum cleaner. Then she finds out the woman was part of a woman's baseball team during World War II and was cast aside when the men came home. Hello?! Have you seen "A League of Their Own" before?! That's not new ground! Show me something new!

I haven't watched a single episode this season, but I heard that someone "killed" Edie. I also hear that she might not really be dead. Is anyone still watching this show? What keeps you tuned in each week?

Happy Birthday Alice!

I love the Brady Bunch. It's a delightful, campy show that spawned two hilarious movies. It's a shame it wasn't on tv longer, but at least we routinely get a "revealing" autobiography from one of the cast members. My favorite so far is Greg's.

What are your favorite episodes?

I love this tv show. It's my favorite part of the tv viewing week other than The Office. It has smart writing, a great ensemble cast, and excellent timing. I'm dying to find out who will be the mother of Ted's children! And we're suppose to know by the end of this season?! I'm hoping it the bakery girl from the first season. She left to study in Germany for a few years. Shouldn't she be back by now? I really liked her.

I like this show so much it makes me sad to watch other programs because the writing seems less witty. What happened to all the good dialog on tv? I'm starving for the next West Wing -- a show that didn't dumb itself down for the audience. You had to pay attention to keep up with things.

Seinfeld had good writing, too, but more in the sense of creating new buzz words. The actual interchanges between the characters wasn't always that great. I'm not knocking the show -- it still makes me laugh even in reruns. I'm just saying the dialog oftentimes left something to be desired.

Anyone out there have suggestions for good shows with great dialog?
