Saving on Wedding Invitations

April 12th 2012 18:22
Here are some simple ways to cut corners when you have created a budget for your wedding. Wedding invitations can be an easy way to trim the budget.

First way to cut the budget is by printing the invitations yourself on your printer. You can purchase the invitations of your choice online or at any business supply store. Make sure you buy extra just in case you add guest to your list at the last minute. Make sure to proof read before printing invitations.
Another way to save on Wedding invitations at least a little is by using postcards as response cards. These will save on postage and you won’t have to use an extra envelope.
Most people don’t realize that if you need to send directions in the wedding invitation it will cost them more postage and it can add up quickly.
Join a wedding site like myweddingsite.com or weddingwire.com where you can post your directions and you can put a reference to this site for your guests to access if they need directions. These sites are great because they allow customize your site to your particular taste. If you plan on sending out “save the date” post cards, you can reference the site on them.
Shopping around to different printers can prove to save some money as some will give you discounts depending on how many wedding invitations you need. Don’t be afraid to ask for a discount.
Shop EBay & Etsy.com for wedding invitations. You may be surprised at the top quality invitations you can find at good prices.
You don’t have to include a reception card but instead you can have printed on the invitation where the reception will be.

Beach Wedding Cake Toppers

Beach Wedding Cake topper
If you are planning a beach wedding and need to save money, here are some tips for making your own beach wedding cake topper. You may have to gather some shells from friends and family rather than buying them but almost everyone has shells from somewhere.
Make sure you thoroughly clean the shells you are using for your wedding cake topper. There are two ways you can make a sturdy bottom for a shell arrangement to top your beach wedding cake. You can use a wood piece which you can purchase at craft stores very cheaply. Be sure to sand it down if it has rough edges before you paint it.Secondly, you will need a good glue (like jewelry glue) to hold the shells. After you paint the wood piece and let it dry for a day, begin designing how you want your shells to be displayed for the wedding cake.Take your time and make sure you really like it. It should look like a 3D arrangement with a large shell or a figurine towards the back and like a flower arrangement; it should be cascading with the shell arrangement from large to smaller. This will make it appealing to look at. It should not be cluttered, like you dumped a bunch of shells on top of a piece of wood.Using white shells, with maybe a hint of pink, arrange the shells and maybe tiny starfish or coral as you like. There are lots of shells that naturally look pearly that you can use. Also, if you don’t have these types of shells, you can buy craft paint in white that has a pearly look. I don’t recommend a flat white as it doesn’t look good on shells. It makes the shells look washed out and dull. If you must use flat white paint, you should give it a glaze after you paint it. The second sturdy bottom you can use is actually a shell. Using a large clam shell, or scallop shell (6 or 7 inches wide) you can actually glue the shell arrangement right on top. You can paint the shell or leave it natural.
One thing to remember when you are working on a Beach wedding cake topper is that it is done in baby steps. You need to work on it gradually and each piece dry in between. It may take you several days to complete this project but it will be well worth it in the end. Please refer to the links I have provided for examples of both type of beach wedding cake toppers.

Preserving your wedding flowers

January 4th 2012 11:31
There are just a few ways you can choose from to preserve your wedding flowers. You can dry them by hanging them to dry. This process may take a week or so depending on how big the bouquet is. Tie a ribbon around the stems and hang them some place that is not damp.
You can also preserve them by Silica Gel which can be purchased at any craft store. You will need a big enough container to hold the flowers so that you can cover them completely. This will remove the moisture so that they will remain intact. This process may take several days and you should check on the flowers frequently to prevent over drying them.
The last way to dry your precious flowers is to have them freeze dried. This will have to be done by a florist. You should call a few florists first as not all florists may offer this service. Your flowers will look the most beautiful with this kind of drying.

Light Up Your Wedding

March 29th 2011 11:11
There’s nothing prettier at a wedding when there are lots of lights and sparkle. You can do this any time of year or any season. You can use a little bit of lights and sparkle or a lot.
The biggest season that brides use this is at Christmas time. You can use most any color if you want but softer lights are most attractive. Putting lights on the bridal tables are a must. Also if you drape the same color lights behind the bridal party looks really good. Using lights as an accent to highlight certain areas of the reception is what you mostly want to do. Accenting the cake table with lights, and accenting the picture area (like if you have an arch for pictures) would be good. Of course, if there are trees decorated in the room then lights would be on them too.
To light up the ballroom area or dance floor, you can purchase Large round lantern that light up or maybe mini stars that light up. These can both be purchased online.

Weddings Resembling the Past

February 7th 2011 23:49
weddings,

Did you ever dream of having a wedding that resembles another place in time? It is easy to create this type of wedding for yourself with nostalgia. You can do this by shopping online or by visiting antique or second hand shops.
It all depends on your taste if you want to create an entire wedding from the past or just a small portion of it. A small portion of it may be just decorating with antique chandelier prisms. To create an image from the past for the entire wedding you may want to have your wedding party dress from an era in time, like Victorian times. Costumes are available for rental for this purpose

Helping a friend with their wedding

December 14th 2010 19:39
The best way you can help someone to plan a wedding is to get organized from the start. Start by going to the book store or library and buying or borrowing books that will give you ideas. Make a list of things you must do and a deadline of when it must be done. A good wedding means a well planned one that is put together with care.
Visit wedding sites on the internet to get an idea of what types of wedding gowns the bride may want and what type of brides maids as well. You may have to educate yourself on the styles of wedding gowns. This should never take the place of actually going and trying dresses on. That is the whole fun of purchasing a wedding gown and you can never be sure how a gown will look on someone by a picture.
You should visit several bakeries with the bride to be before helping her decide on the cake. Getting suggestions from friends of good bakeries in the area would help in starting out. They should be able to give you samples and show a portfolio of pictures of their wedding cake experience

on Sukob: Filipino Wedding Superstition

April 24th 2011 11:37
This is as stated in the article, a Filipino superstition. This article was an article of cultural interest and was not meant to scare anyone. I would not plan a wedding around events, good or bad. Hope this helps with any questions on this article.
