Norwegian Sex Shops Does WrongNovember 22nd 2007 06:27
A Norwegian sex store chain was recently sprung with a surprise inspection by the government authority for food safety. In Norway, like Australia, vendors are obliged to display labels on all food products describing all ingredients.
During the raid it was found that several products carried by the notorious chain did not comply with these regulations. Edible handcuff, underwear and penis pasta were not labelled correctly. The chain has pleaded ignorance and promises to rectify the mistake. I think Im going to have to go done to the local sex shop and check up on them to make sure the same mistake here! A romantic night could turn into a very unpleasant one very quickly if an unsuspecting lover wears edible panties discovers they have an allergy to chocolate REF: Really Long Link
Birdie Num Nums CarltonNovember 21st 2007 11:30
Dont let the quaint appearance fool you, the coffee is pretty bad. It tasted burnt, and my sources tell me that this is not an unusual occurrence. Also the general consensus is that it is a little over priced. Nevertheless the food is reasonably interesting and pretty gourmet as they say.
Birdie Numnums 745 Nicholson Street North Carlton (03) 9380 1950 I had some kind of exotic pistachio friand that was rather nice, and the range of quiches, salads and savouries did look good too. There are also several newspapers and flyers lying around so it was rather pleasant for me to sit by the window and read as I slowly sipped. Apparently it used to be a far superior establishment referencing an old butcher shop, a pretty cool concept that carries through to the present day. It kind of looks like an old deli with a high roof and benches out the front with some nooks and crannies out the back with a cosy looking couch corner complete with fire place. (I dare say this would be the choice spot during the Melbourne winter.)
Hook Island Food DiaryNovember 20th 2007 09:14
Day one:
We arrive on the beautiful Hook island. The resort is small and secluded on a pretty beach and surrounded by bush. To my delight there is amazing snorkelling right at the doorstep. There is only one place to eat on the island, and that is the resorts café. You are not allowed to bring your own food, though I snuck in some olives, dip and muesli bars

The Library is Cool! Free Talks on Medieval FoodNovember 17th 2007 10:59
City of Sydney libraries are putting on an excellent program of events over the summer months, and most of them are offered free to the public.
In particular Id like to draw your attention to a fascinating series of lectures to be given on Medieval food! Heather Bentley will give talks on the bizarre, tempting and terrible practices people had towards food in Medieval times. They werent called the dark ages for nothing! When herbs had magical properties, peacock was a delicacy and sugar a rarity, the Medieval culture has a wealth of different superstitions and customs that will delight anyone interested in food, culture or history
Nathan's Winter BBQNovember 15th 2007 08:16
I know winter is well behind us, but I have just retrieved some long lost photos of a spectacular BBQ I attended then. Innocent Shani thought she was just going to an ordinary BBQ when she was astounded with a busy production in progress, spanning the length of the dining room, kitchen and backyard.
Harry's Corner Cafe Airlie BeachNovember 13th 2007 11:08
With promises of being hangover friendly and great coffee, we settled on Harry's Corner for our breakfast choice this morning.

And today is one of the best, Newtown Festival. It has been one of the first of this kind of the thing and has truly set a trend for its neighbouring suburbs over the last few years
