Can anyone get annoyed with good things? Well, I am. I'll explain why.

There are four old people running a laughter club in a garden nearby our home. Each an every day, whether it be rain or sunny or cold or stormy or whatever the weather is, they will come there. I mean I don't know what's stuck in their brains. They won't even leave Sundays. Every single day i get out of my bed and walk through my back door, I hear them shouting, "Ha Ha Ho Ho Ha Ha Ho Ho'. It simply freaks me out.

They are exercising, good for them. What actually freaks me out is that when I look at myself and compare i see a lousy ass who isn't remotely bothered about exercise. I mean WTF. I've attempted regular exercises before but each time I tried I couldn't go beyond three months. (with small breaks in between)

I may feel disgusted about oldies but, you know, somewhere in my heart there is a deep sense of appreciation and respect. They can be a great source of inspiration when it comes to Social Media Marketing (and exercise ). So now the big question - What can a Laughter Club teach you about Social Media?

Consistency:

No matter what comes- earthquake, brimstones, hail, rain or heat, these people will stay consistent. They will come out there and do their exercises as if they were laughing at the challenges. It inspires me to replicate this consistency in my SM efforts as well. I have to write blogs, monitor traffic, find new topics, and participate in conversation, no matter what.

Have fun:

Do what you love and love what you do. These guys come out there, talk with each other, do their exercises and have fun. They enjoy each and every moment they spend in the garden. It seems so effortless. I love blogging and I'm sure readers out there see that.

Don't Care:

Whatever happens don't care the fuck about anyone. These guys come out there in the garden, LTAO (laugh their asses off) and finish their exercises. They don't seem to care whether anyone's looking at them, making fun of them or what others are thinking. Of course, that doesn't mean you forget your limits. What I mean to stay is that don't let negative sentiments obstruct your SM efforts. Learn from the challenges and move on.

Hope, you liked the post. Love y'all.

Monty and Social Media

March 31st 2010 15:05
No don't worry i am not going to write about some kick ass personality in my first post. It is about my dear old church friend Monty and his first encounter with the world of social media.

After the church service was over (thank goodness ), we rode our bikes together to a nearby fast food restaurant. After some deep thinking, he looked at me with a question mark clearly visible on his face and asked, 'Danny, what is twitter?' I gulped down my immediate urge to respond, 'WTF, you don't know what twitter is? Are you a caveman?' and instead answered, 'Twitter is a microblogging platform'. Okay, big words for him so I dissected them and explained what people actually use twitter for. He seemed satisfied and that was more than enough for me.

After I reached home, a thought struck me - 'What is Twitter Danny? Are you really confident that you know everything about Twitter? Can you harness its full potential?' Unfortunately, the answer was 'No' and I'm sure that's the case with most of us. I mean updates, friends, followers, and lists are okay but are we using it to cultiivate meaningful relationships. I know I know Twitter is a horizontal platform and you gotta pull in as many followers as you can so that you can market whatever your product is successfully. But, is that the only thing you can use it for?

Maybe I haven't experienced too many realtime conversations on Twitter except with my friends that's why I'm sayin that but are such conversations really common? No idea, seriously. Well, of course, web casts and newscasts are there streaming all information in realtime but what about actual conversations talking about business or productivity or you know what.

Please feel free to share your views on my post and get as abusive as you want. All my readers are my best friends and i would love the 'f' words from ya. Hope you find the post valuable.
