Sex Migraines

Yes, for those of you that experience migraines, the sex migraine has to be one of the worst kind.
Given it own unappealing name of Coital Cephalgia, on average one out of every 360 headaches is triggered by having sex. They are a subset of "exertion headaches" or headaches caused by exercise.
At my worst (before some of the treatments I have received) I would get an exertion headache after 3-4 minutes of exercise. This really stuffed up my sex life and of course, one of the easiest ways to stop sex headaches is to stop having sex! It actually one of the things that finally drove me to getting the treatment I needed.
Sex headaches must be some form of pavlov dog psyho experiment being performed on us by aliens. They are intermittent and don't occur every time. The pain is slightly different every time, but most of the time it either builds along with sexual excitement, or explodes at the moment of orgasm. Men actually get sex headaches more regularly than women.
Treatment and prevention is just the same as your regular migraine. Changing positions may help, as well as building up more slowly. You can also take anti-inflammatories as a precaution. Avoid viagra as one of it's side effects is headaches!
