Searching for Inspiration
April 24th 2008 11:29
Ah yes. Times like this, its best to just kick back and stop thinking for a while. Everything is up to speed... life is passing by at about the same rate you are living it. The music stops, and you realise -
When was the last time I actually made a piece of music? And why am I forever postponing a catch up session with my music engineer friend?
Hold up. Take it back and just chillax. Inspiration is required. Its time to make an original piece of music, dust off those piano keys and guitar strings. Feel the funk flowing through your bones, and think for a second.
Remember John Lennon? Before he died, he was trying his darnedest to be a New Yorker. This was 1981. Now what kind of music was happening in New York at this time. I mean, what was really booming. Why would Mr Lennon, the amazing songwriter he was, want to be around NYC at this time. Could it be...
Hiphop?
What kind of inspiration was Mr Lennon after by living in such a place at such a time... if such is the case, maybe you can channel this energy. Maybe even, Imagine. What would hiphop be like if it had John Lennon's hands in it?
How can we keep things in the spirit of 1981 and actually make a piece of music that would do New York City's John Lennon proud? It couldn't be thuggish or violent. It couldn't be about hoes and gold chains. Could it be...
Bohemian Hiphop?!?!?!
Now, back to where we started. The wind is flowing through the trees, the clouds are rolling along outside, and you've done all you need to do for the week. Time for a chat with your local music studio's engineer, no?
