Sydney Directory of Music & Speech Teachers
This is the original Music Teacher's Directory. Starting out as a bound, photocopied handbook which was deposited at music shops and libraries, studios and private teachers around Sydney, it has also been developed into an internet website. However, with the website being so very basic and ..well, frankly, a bit of an eye-sore, combined with the hefty advertising fee of $176.00, this directory is FAR from ideal. As not many teachers choose to advertise here, it may be a very limited resource for a student.
It doesn't include any information except name, suburb, qualifications & phone number, so any further enquiries must be persued over the phone.
It doesn't include "unqualified" teachers, and so teachers of traditional instruments, or of folk styles (who may not ever be able to gain a tertiary qualification in say.. playing the Hurdy-Gurdy in spite of being the foremost teachers of that instrument) aren't allowed.
Our panel gave this site ratings of:
E - 3 / 10 ... Tired-looking and limited to classical instruments.
J - 4 / 10 ... Hard to navigate and leaves a lot of phoning-around.
A - 3 / 10 ... Infrequently updated & badly designed.
P - 3 / 10 ... Expensive as well as ugly! I would not advertise here!
