"Scrubs Review":
Scrubs is an NBC/ABC series that is a half hour situation comedy that does not have laughter. It is not filmed before a live audience (or it might be screened, but the room does not have microphones on). It also does not have recorded or canned laughter. This series is similar to other NBC shows such as My Name Is Earl, and The Office, and Chuck. Most of the time in this series, the events are the thoughts of John Dorian, or J.D.. Sometimes it is the thoughts of other characters.
The reason why I did not watch this series for many years is because I did not think that medical related humor was very funny. I actually thought it was very cruel of an idea to even have ever created a medical situation comedy. The interviews on the late night talk shows did not help much either. Their promotion clips, as well as commercials, was of clips that I thought were terrible.
I eventually got around to watching just the opening segment. The theme song is terrible!! The closing theme is okay, but the opening theme, which is "I can't do this allll on my own, no I know. I'mNoSuperMan (music playing quickly) I'mnosuperman". It is one of the most terrible TV series themes that I have heard of.
However, I am familiar with Sarah Chalke. She is a very talented and nice looking actor. I remember her from Roseanne. In Scrubs, she looks exactly like she had before. She also looks like the first Becky actor, Lecy A. Goranson. (The spelling might be in-correct) in this series. Elliott Reed is a hilarious and hyperactive character.
I am also familiar with Dr. Kelso, because his actor was in an episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation. The two characters are very similar. Dr. Kelso is an old doctor, and himself and Dr. Cox are nice people that are worn out by several things, from their personal lives to their lives at work. Because they are doctors, they might occasionally not succeed in their work, which is depressing to them. They remind the new staff members of several good and bad things about the careers, and often give everybody advice, and sometimes tease the other people, especially Dr. Cox with J.D., who rarely calls J.D. by his actual name. Dr. Kelso, however, calls everybody by their professional title and last names.
Ted is a constantly stressed out lawyer, who doesn't appear to like his job, and frequently has clumsy things happen to him. The same actor is on Desperate Housewives, whose character, a therapist, gets assaulted and thrown off a bridge.
There is also a nurse, who is at the Nurse's Station. I don't remember her name, but she is hilarious.
Also there is a surgeon named The Todd, who is also hilarious but sometimes sickening. Another surgeon is Turk, who is J.D.'s friend and they have been friends for many years. Turk marries Carla, who is also at The Nurse's Station. Both of these nurses are sometimes outside of The Nurse's Station. Carla does not like how J.D. knows about Turk more than she knows about Turk. She also calls J.D. "Bambi", so she is another person that calls J.D. names other than his own. Turk is one of the more annoying characters on this show, and it might take at least a few decades to get used to him.
There is also Janitor, and I don't remember his name. I don't think anybody remembers his name. Almost all of the time, he likes to torture J.D..
The characters are all very funny, and the interns at the beginning of the series end up getting interns of their own. When the show is not funny, everybody gives each other advice. It is still an unusual setting for a situation comedy, but it is still worth watching. Just try to block out the theme song, and try not to let any scenes where a patient dies bother you too much, because that often happens as well. Additionally, just like any other series, not every episode is as good as it should be.
