Screening Calls

I tell ya, I have heard hundreds of reason, but now I feel its time to list them.
Here are 10 reasons to screen your phone calls:
1. If your talking on a cell phone, you won't want to waste air time talking to someone about nothing for hours, and using up those important minutes. Its well and good if your best friend wants an afternoon chat, but they aren't thinking about that phone bill of your sky rocketing.
2. You Never Know What Someone's Mood is when they call. They just haven't equipped caller ID's with a mood ring yet, that tells you whether a person is mad, sad, upset, happy, drunk or argumentative. Let them leave a message so you can find out.
3. Telemarketers are always calling! They won't let you off the phone without a good fight, and are determined for you to hear what they have to offer before you hang up. Which in the end just makes you feel ackward, rude and harrassed. Let the voicemail pick it up.
4. It Could Be Your Ex, calling from jail, or just calling to cause trouble. Maybe they think you still have an old pair of sneakers, or they think you want them back, its just not worth it to answer that call. It never is.
5. Its much easier to be prepared for an important conversation, if you know who called and what they wanted. If it was for a job or for an appointment, you can easily call them right back and know what to say and how to handle it.
6. You can't blame bill collectors for trying to hunt you down, but when you don't have the money, what could would it do to get stuck in an unsavory phone conversation with them. You'll just end up spending an hour telling them how much money you don't have. Its much easier to let them leave a message so that you are reminded of the debt owed.
7. It could be a wrong number. I can't count the amount of times that someone has called my phone, and I decided to pick up, just to find out that it was a wrong number. The caller usually tries calling your number several times to no avail, and that can just be aggravating.
8. I would touch an unavailable or blocked number with a ten foot poll. It could be your lovers ex, your in laws, or some other unsavory and upset person who wants to be able to catch you an aware. Or it could be any other reason on this list, but if they are not willing to share their number, there is no reason they don't deserve to get screened.
9. Why talk when you can text? My cell phones offer unlimite texting for much cheaper than they offer unlimited talking. Not to mention you don't waste your breath for those times between sentences, trying to figure out what bit of gossip to go over next. No wasted air time! Plus, if it isn't an emergency, you can send them a text after they leave a message, and tell them your available to text, to save air time.
10. Screening calls can save many stressful, aggravating and useless situations. That alone is reason enough to screen. Just don't be biased!
