I am starting a new role next Monday with a new firm and am quite excited about the idea but also have some apprehensions at the same time. You get bored of your role and you get tired of your environment when it becomes routine and static and when you do not challenge yourself and find nothing new you can learn from and experience.

This is a concept that I think many celebrities are familiar with and is therefore a thought that has crossed their minds in their journey through Hollywood’s entertainment industry. Like most of us (i.e. people with plain occupations) the celebrities no doubt get tired and “so over” the role they are playing and/or the show they are working on and find themselves asking for more in life thereby seek out other opportunities that may fulfill them.

A recent example of an actress who is wanting more from her career than what her current role offers is Rachel Bilson of The O.C’s famed Summer Roberts. Rachel is quoted saying:

“I just feel like the show is over. I'm so happy for everything it brought me, and it's been such a great experience, but I think we're all ready to move on.”

Short of moving on from your workplace is finding other opportunities within your workplace which is something that is on hand to those lucky enough to be working in a company that has the ability and scope.

Actors, in an attempt to diversify, get behind the scenes and dabble in producing and directing shows and films as they want to use their creative abilities in ways other than plain old acting. All that works out well but in most cases the acting bug bites and they are back where they belong I suppose, in front of the camera.

So I suppose the long and short of what I want to say here is that people want to be challenged and want to learn and grow along the way and not stand still. This is the truth regardless of what you are involved in in your day to day. I have found something that will hopefully be the ONE, which is the role that I will just love to be going to in the mornings and find rewarding.

Here’s hoping, wish me luck for Monday

I heard rumours speculating that Orlando Bloom may in fact be dropped from his co-staring role opposite Johnny and Keira in the 4th instalment of the burgeoning Pirates of the Carribean franchise which has proven to be both entertaining and lucrative (perfect combo for Hollywood executives).

Dropping Orlando's character Will Turner from the 4th instalment is telling everyone that Orlando is not worth the money he is commanding for the film in this point in his career and is also undermining his pull-power at the box office.

Online there are many articles discussing Orlando's lacklustre performance in his roles post LOTR Legalos. People say he is not a good actor and/or does not have enough on screen presence to capture the audience. The potential dropping from the 4th instalment of Pirates may turn those fictional rumours into fact and may well end the lucky streak Orlando has enjoyed so far.

There is no doubt that there will be many teeny-boppers, wannabe Paris Hilton style girls who will be devasted with the drop and may even boycott the 4th instalment altogether. Does the 10-16 year old demographic have enough power and consuming market presence to sway the decision makers at the BIG Hollywood studios? We will just have to wait and see.......

Here's hoping they do.

Orlando Bloom's Smirk

October 3rd 2006 00:45
I love Orlando, I mean I think I am in love with his characters, his onstage persona more so than his off stage disposition but it is Orlando nevertheless. There are rumours floating around that he is gay or maybe bi as it is clear he was in a relationship with Kate Bosworth for a while although he broke up with her now (for the second time) or maybe it was Kate that broke up with him so will make him more bi than gay for the moment.

To get to my point, Orlando has a smirk that either makes me think he is very smug and just cannot help but show his joy or is trying to hide his inner disposition. I mean why shouldn’t he be smug at this point in his life as he should be with his illustrious career and future projects and being an A-lister and being wanted by millions of women (or girls) around the world not to mention the parties and freebies that might go his way too. I think I am getting away here with my imagination running wild thinking of all the perks that come with stardom. His smirk is not offensive but you have to admit it makes you think what he is really thinking when he is smiling at the camera and at you??? Is he really this nice, grounded fellow as you can get away with thinking or is he just playing nice to win over hearts? I hope it is the first of the two because I really want to believe he is a genuine player (person) and not someone who is being fake.

Lets just take a moment here and observe his different smirks and analyse them:

I noticed just then as I searched for pictures to prove my point that Orlando has a bit of a hunch or a slight posture problem when he poses for pics. I think it may be due to lack of experience posing for red carpet events and interviews on such events. Also I must note the fact that he looks a little awkard and uncomfortable as well which might explain the reason for the smirk – natural side effect of nerves or to counter nerves??

Australian Idol Judges - cocky arses?

September 18th 2006 04:45
It seems like office politics is not just reserved for the office as all hell breaks loose on prime time television every Sunday nights on channel ten’s “Australian Idol”. The antics of the three judges Mark, Marcia and Kyle remind me of a recent work conference I went along to where if you had a big voice, loved by the boss, have lots of support by fellow members and in general someone who rubs people up the right way (thereby getting support by those people) ends up the winner.

Here are my thoughts on a what makes you a winner in the workspace

You have to watch and see it for yourself.

Am definitely going to see it on the big screen when it comes out.

Orly and Katie - Twice Broken Up

September 12th 2006 00:27
I have to say that I am not surprised by the news of Orlando Bloom and Kate Bosworth separating a few days ago. It is something that I predicted would be inevitable and something that I always thought was going to happen in the near future. The only thing that surprised me is the fact that the break-up came so soon I suppose. They only got back together from their first break-up about a year ago….

The only thing that I am not so sure about is why they couldn’t wait till the end of filming of their new movie that is due to go into production this month before calling it quits? I think the wiser thing to do (if you are a thinking man) is to wrap up the movie, go on the promotional trail then once all is done and dusted and there is nothing else to do, break-up. Surely as they are great actors and are each equally concerned about their careers and what others think of them that they could have acted their “romance” out a bit longer for the sake of the movie if not anything else??

Embrace the Larrikin

September 5th 2006 23:04
I know a lot of people would have written about the tragic incident that shocked us all and took us by surprise while at work, college, or whatever else we would have been engaged in the later half of the afternoon on Monday 4th of September. It is the news that Steve Irwin, Australia’s ambassador to the world, conservationist, father, husband among other roles he played during his short lived life had been struck and taken out by a sting ray (of all things) and resulted in death. Since then we as the world community but especially the Australian public are paying tribute to his larger than life persona and larrikinism over anything else.

Not too long ago (as I recall), we (the world community and Australian public) were condemning Steve of his antics and were ashamed (some of us, not all) of his stereotypical Australian character that was sometimes thought of as a show to appeal to the audience. But now, minutes, moments after his surprise passing away people are embracing the very thing we were mocking and shaking our heads about – we are embracing the larrikin.

Spaghetti Western Inspired Stars

August 28th 2006 23:41
A token question that is asked when interviewing celebrities is: “Why you decided to be an actor?” and that is what I want to discuss here. The replies usually represent the body of work the actor aspires to produce throughout their careers. For instance, action actors who want to continue on that line of movie-making say they were inspired to act by watching the greats of the spaghetti western genre.

I never really watched a proper spaghetti western and don’t know what is or makes a movie fall into the spaghetti western category so that bothers me. Maybe I should make an effort and watch one, go to the local video store and pick one up. Actually, come to think of it, I may have watched one. Is “Unforgiven” a spaghetti western? I watched that a few years ago and enjoyed the relaxed, seamless flow and simplicity of the film. The characters were realistic enough and the scenes worked without too much fireworks, blowing up of buildings and excessive drama. If that is what makes a spaghetti western then I see why the actors who aspire to be in and make this genre of film do.

Analysis on Kate Hudson

August 23rd 2006 04:28

Kate Hudson has divorced her husband of 6 years recently and I didn’t really read much into the story because am not that interested about her life and the dynamics of her relationships or Kate the person for that matter but I think I can provide an analysis on her decision to divorce here.

The Sentinel - Plain old, same old

August 21st 2006 06:48
The Sentinel – What went wrong?

I watched this over the weekend and thought I might write a review of it (if you will). Ok, the film was not my first choice but more like a second or third as initially I wanted to see Miami Vice but a lot of people said it was bad and not worth seeing. The other choice was You, Me and Dupree but my friend didn’t want to see that one so The Sentinel is was.
