And since we've no place to go,
Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!

Callum and Dash and Snow
Callum and Dash in the Snow

Yep that's what we've got here in jolly Old Blighty, snow and plenty of it. In what is being reported as the worst snow storms to hit this part of the UK in about 18 years I'm finding myself enjoying it. Schools are closed, the snow is so thick, deep and crisps, Callum wants to go out in it and play and so does Dash. It's good old fun. The only downside is that Daz had to go to work today as he was fool enough to attempt to get in and managed to. I just hope he can make it home and we have a very bright outside light so we can always have a snowball fight in the dark.

As always you can count on the BBC website to keep you happy with stuff and they've had a run of photos from readers etc on the snow.

Your Pictures: Snow Blankets England

Your Pictures: Animals in the Snow

The Guardian is comprising and interactive map of photos sent in which is quite cool and I might send into as well.

Basically the snow is taking up pretty much all of the news which for once is a nice break.

Talking of which I better go prepare myself for stage three of snowstorm, snowball fight in the dark. See you later alligators.

Oh but before I go for anyone interested I have a set of photos on my flickr account with todays acitivities which are being updated.

bye.xxx

In a galaxy far far away is a little community of friends that have one main common interest. Comics! Many moons ago we all met through the now defunct messageboard of Joe Quesada (EIC of Marvel) and from that branched out to form our own little private board called Bad Genious (yes it is spelt wrong but there is a reason behind that). Over the years we have all become very close friends that regularly meet up, have attended the wedding of two of the members, to just simply being there for each other. Throughout this all we have debated, discussed, laughed, loved, cried (well maybe not so much of this) and a whole range more emotions over the world of comics. And from all this has been born a new life a new blogging life, The Bad Genious Blog

I think our main creator ( The General ) sums it up well when he describes who we at the Bad Genious Blog are:

A loose coalition of comic book fans and friends. United by our mutual desire to rant, rave and otherwise ramble about comic books and their surrounding culture.

We do all love comics and we want to share that love with others, but we also have frustrations about it too. We are a wide range group of people with differences in our life experiences and we are tying to bring that across in our blog.

So if you want to read some interesting, thought provoking or just fun comic related reviews, opinions, thoughts then come and join us there. I hope we do get to see you.

So... Life...

May 23rd 2008 11:42
So dear Oblelites I have a spare few moments and thought I'd update about life in the White House. Things are still hectic, but then that's pretty normal life for a SAHM I hear. We are well and truly settled in our new home, can't believe it's 4 months nearly since we moved in. The time has flown by. We've spent a good part of it in our new garden, working on it, trying to make it more than just a bit of grass and concrete. We now have a flowerbed with an array of different plants, trees, flowers, bushes etc in it and more to come! We have a goal post for those all important family get togethers, a tippee for Callum to picnic in, a slide for the cars to zoom down, a patio set and a PINK BBQ! Yes PINK!!!! Oh and a couple of huge paddling pools and some planters. There is still lots more that needs doing but we're getting there and it's good enough to leave now and get started on the front garden and inside the house. I'm trying to persuade our Landlord aka Daz to let us do a deal with rent and a new kitchen. The current kitchen desperately needs work doing to it but Landlordaddy is a little reluctant, I'm sure we can wear him down though. Nothing else really needs much doing in the house, just a few licks of paint and new flooring in the bathroom and that's it really.

So how are Daz, Callum and I? We're great! I think Daz enjoys being closer to work so he gets more time at home with us and added bonus now we can all get the bus together in the morning! Why? Well at long last we got Callum into a school in the borough. It's still a 2 bus ride journey but if the buses run on time it's only a 30 minute journey. The school is still being built so it only has the Nursery and Reception years there but that's still a lot of kids and they are all in a temporary building. Callum seems to like his new school although it is very different from his old school and there seem to sadly be a few language barriers but we'll get pass all that. For the time being it will do and we are still on the waiting lists for the schools that we can walk to. It's great though all being able to get the bus together in the morning and on the way home from school Callum and I walk pass Daz' office so if we have time we pop in and see him and if not it's a hurried wave as we run past to get our bus home.

The other amazing thing is to see how much Callum has grown up. I look at him at times and wonder where that little innocent baby has gone but he makes me so proud of the wonderful, funny, caring, sensitive person he is turning into. Oh and he is still on his crusade to get a baby brother!

As for me, I'm happy and loving life. I finally feel as though I've found my place in life and I'm happy to stay here. There are maybe a few things I'd like to change, mostly lonliness during the daytime and not really knowing anyone in the area but I'm looking at ways to combat that. One of them being maybe joining the local Neighbourhood Watch Team, I feel I have something to offer with the experiences we had living at the flat and also it will hopefully be a good way to meet more of my neighbours. We'll see how it goes. I'm still into the photography and looking at getting myself a DSLR once I'm over the confusion of which one to get and in September and even thinking about looking for a job so that we can maybe look at buying into our wonderful home.

So there is my update, a little haphazard but hey that's me!

Oh and for those interested here's a link to my flickr photos so you can see stuff.

Dear Top Gear

March 10th 2008 19:27
A few weeks ago Callum asked if he could write a letter in to Top Gear, this is what he wrote with the translation. So simple yet so sweet.

Peter Callum Pan

February 19th 2008 12:22
Kids are such wonderful funny creatures. A few months ago Callum saw Peter Pan for the first time. He spent the next couple weeks going round singing Never Smile At A Crocodile and calling Daz Tinkerbell and me Captain Hook, well untill Daz put him in his place and I (quite rightly) became Tinkerbell. Then leading up to Christmas he became enamoured by Dr Who, mostly down to the fact that his cousin Alex is mad about Dr Who. One day we were in Woolworths and Callum saw a black Dalek costume and asked for it. I suggested he wait a little while until after Christmas and we'd see if it would be in the sale because jeez louise those things are costly! Much to Callum's delight a couple weeks into the New Year and we found one, this time a brown/gold one, in the slaes for £8! Bargain! It seemed that Callum's phase of the builder, policeman, fireman costume had gone to the next level... and the more expensive level. But hey he had fun showing the Dalek to his cousin Alex who has a Cyberman costume and they caused havoc together.

Now we come to Friday just gone. It was the last day of half term and we decided to go and visit Daz at work, from the new house it's a ten minute bus ride and there are plenty of shops in Ilford. Callum was over the moon to be going to see Daddy at work and added bonus that Grandad "Grumps" Steve worked there too. After a while of Callum terrorizing, hell who am I kidding, wooing over more like, the girls at the office I took Callum off to look in Woolworths at the toys. At the top of the escalators, before we get to the cars there are the dress up costumes. Callum asks is we can look and asks for a Power Rangers costume, but he's on a Power Rangers ban at the moment so I said no. Then the two of us at the same time spied the Peter Pan costume. It was a must

Jingle Callum

At the moment every day Callum asks if it's going to be Christmas tomorrow. He's really getting in the spirit of it. Here's a clip of one such way. Hope you enjoy.

Busy Like A Bee

November 21st 2007 14:50
I just don't know where the time goes, just over a month and it'll be Christmas and not long after that a new year. Wow.

So how are things in the White Household? Busy, stressful, tiring with some fun and laughter thrown in

Hello!

October 4th 2007 19:00
Wow I can't believe how long ago it was that I got to post here and this is only going to be be a quickie post.

So much has been happening. Most importantly though is that that little monkey monster of mine, yes that's Callum, has at long last started school. It was his first day last week, well I say day it was a half day and he still is doing half days for the rest of this week, all of next week and then hopefully after that he will be going full time. Yay!! I think

Oops that was me up above, not sure what happened there it's been too long since I posted on orble.

Young Sarah didn't read comics, they weren't a huge thing here in the UK when I was growing up, well not for us girls. It wasn't until I met my husband that he got me into reading comics and we still to this day collect and read them and have got our four year old son into reading them (he has on his bedside table the New Avengers Transformers tpb).

So going from my experience of being an older reader and who my favourite character was I'd have to go for Gambit and Rogue, always loved those two. Also I had a big love for Spidey.

Sarah.

I'm laughing so much. These are awesome!!! And so true too.

Brilliant. I love Fred Astaire, my old neighbour upstairs loved his films and was always watching them and singing along and I imagine dancing too.

Now that looks pretty darn awesome!! Plus as a parent to me it seems a good way to get your child to watch Star Wars without having to worry about if your five year old wants to watch Revenge of the Sith which to me is a little too dark a film. I'm actually excited about something Star Wars. Plus you can totally see how a console game would be great for this too.
