Why are comments deleted

A really good comment was deleted from one of my posts. Is there any reason why this would happen? The person got upset that thier comment was deleted and posted a follow up comment under the lost opportunity cost post.

Keys To A Successful Garage Sale

June 11th 2008 02:27
Most of us have things around the house that we no longer want or need. We might have some of our children’s old baby clothes or some antiques in the garage that seems to only collect dust. The point is that you may need to do a garage sale either to get some much needed cash or just to clean out the clutter. Garage sales do take a great deal of work, and there is no guarantee that everything will sell, but you never know unless you try. There are some things you can do to help make your garage sale a success.

1). Pick a date and stick to it. Be sure that you decide on a date that will allow you to commit your entire day to the garage sale. You are also more likely to be successful if you devote your time on 2 days in a row, preferably on a weekend. If your religion prohibits you to buy or sell on Saturday then you can do your garage sale on Sunday or vise versa. However some people like to offer their stuff for sale on both days. Regardless be sure that you can commit to the date because once you advertise that your having a garage sale people will expect it on that day.

2). Once you have your date set start advertising in the local paper or on www.craigslist.com In your advertisement be sure to say something that sets you apart from everyone else so that more people will want to come to your garage sale. For instance you could say “Huge lots of designer baby clothes”, or “Collectors Dream- Antique grandfather clock and other rustic antiques”. If you have something of extreme value it may be better to see what you can get for it on ebay first. You can also advertise you garage sell throughout your neighborhood by putting signs on mail boxes ahead of time. Your neighbors will notice these as they get their mail, and perhaps they will make an effort to show up. On the day of your garage sale be sure to put up even more signs with your address and arrows leading to your home. Be sure to make your signs big so they stand out.

3). Don’t over price your items. People show up at garage sales looking for a good deal. If you have a particular item that is hard to part with then just don’t put it in the garage sale. Select items that you really don’t want anymore and offer them for bargain prices. You won’t sell anything if all of your items are over priced.

4). Don’t throw anything away until you attempt to sell it first. Even if it looks like junk someone may want to buy it. Have you heard the saying “one person’s trash is another person’s treasure.”

5). Create an attractive presentation. Rather than keeping clothes in boxes for people to look through, hang a clothing line up to display these items. Be sure that the clothes you’re offering for sale are clean, and free of any stains. Organize your things and make an effort to make them look more attractive. If some items are covered in dust clean it off up before presenting it for sale.

Hybrid Mania- Record sales

June 10th 2008 05:20
For many years there has been a big hype over hybrid cars yet many people ignored this hype, but now they are starting to take notice. Over time more manufacturers have slowly gotten into this market. The supply and demand seemed so low only a few years ago because people really didn’t seem to care about the gas prices at that time. Most people wanted to drive their big rigs. The main thing on the road was Ford Expeditions, huge suburban, vans, and even Hummers. Now I look around and I don’t see as many Hummers or other big SUVs anymore. Instead I see many of them for sale on the side road with signs that say “Must sell”. As things change in the world many people conform to these changes and make adjustments in order to make life easier. Everyone is affected by gas prices, and we all want to stretch our dollar as far as it will go. As gas prices go up so does food because with higher gas prices it takes more money to deliver the food to various supermarkets.

Honda and Toyota are reporting record sales on their hybrid cars all across America. Currently one of the most popular is the Toyota Prius. The Hybrid vehicles are still more expensive than most standard vehicles, but with supply and demand the prices should become more affordable over time. If things continue as they are the gas guzzling vehicles will be a thing of the past. Many hybrid cars get anywhere from 40 to 60 miles per gallon. Hybrid’s still only make up less than 3 percent of the vehicles on the road, but with the rising cost of fuel those numbers are sure to go up.

What is a Hybrid?

After reading this some of you may be asking what really is a hybrid, and why do they get so many miles per gallon? There are various types of hybrid cars but one of the most common types is the parallel configuration. The engine will be hooked up directly to the batteries, transmission and generator. The engine and the generator will work together providing power to the drive train while continually switching back and forth off each other as needed to keep the car running. As the car runs it charges the battery and the car runs off of gasoline and electricity. Hybrid cars are much better than all electric cars because the electric car has nothing to continually charge the battery. Throughout certain areas of Europe some manufacturers are promoting all electric cars, but it hasn’t been very effective because these cars require recharging stations to stay on the road. There just aren’t enough of these stations to make this work quite yet. So the hybrid cars are the best solution for now.

Cut your Grocery Bills in Half

May 28th 2008 02:01
In this current economy many people are looking for ways to save money. We are facing very tough economic times which forces us to get creative in order to provide for their loved ones. My goal in creating this blog is to help other people find ways to save money. I am a mother of two little boys, and I have to pinch pennies on a daily basis just to make ends meet. It can be a challenge to stretch every dollar but it certainly can be done. Other than rent one of our biggest expenses is food. At one point we were spending nearly $700 per month on food, and diapers alone. I noticed that inflation had caused food prices to sky rocket at an alarming rate. In the last 4 years a package of chicken breasts has nearly doubled. A jar of quality jam without high fructose corn syrup in it, was as high as $4.50 a jar. My biggest challenge was trying to figure out how I was going to buy quality food at reasonable prices. The good news is that there are ways to save on your grocery bill. Some of these methods may be right under your nose.
