Royal Yawn

Almost thirty years ago I (along with some 750 million viewers) was fixated on the "telly" as Lady Di married Prince Charles. I had followed the media's pre-wedding coverage and became a fan of the soon-to-be princess. I thought she was adorable. She seemed to be very genuine and normal as well as sensitive and a bit vulnerable, which I found to be endearing.
My thoughts of the whole pomp and ceremony were firstly that Diana's dress looked like a pile of sheets that needed a good ironing and secondly, she looked so dismal. Which pretty much sums up the marriage of the then "Royal Couple". Together they were like trying to jam two ill-fitting puzzle pieces together. Alone she was radiant.
Today the only pre-wedding coverage of Kate and William I have seen has been purely by accident and I am already bored to death by the new Royal Couple. I don't know if it's because I am older and more cynical, or if they are truly a boring couple. Either way when I catch a glimpse of anything Royal related, the song "I don't Care" pops into my head.
However the cynic in me cares. She cares about the enormous expense being flaunted in this modest economy.
She cares about the over exposure of a princess in a world where we don't need another "princess".
Mostly she is bewildered that the only reason any of these royal people are who they are is because they were born into it.
OK, OK, so I read that the Queen and her husband—what's his name—will be paying for the wedding out of their own pockets. But aren't their pockets lined with tax money?
And Kate seems to be a lovely down to earth girl. She is different from most of the princesses I come in contact with. She's not a cartoon.
Still bewildered, but if England can put up with being called commoners simply because they weren't born into the "right" family, then who am I to call them out?
I won't be watching the fairy tale wedding of the century of the worlds princess and prince, because I don't want to and (sing along with me) "I don't care...I don't care". Or it could be that if you've seen one Royal Wedding, you've seen them all. *YAWN*
I would reconsider if the royal highnesses would violate proper decorum and think of a wedding as entertainment . . .
