November 1st 2011 08:08
Nasaf wins the AFC Cup
Nasaf wins 2-1 over Kuwait FC. The match played at Kuwait Sports Club in Karshi Central Stadium. Nasaf is the first Uzbekistan team to win the AFC Cup after two quick goals midway through the second-half sealed a 2-1 win over . It was a great match watched by thousands of enthusiastic fans and truly deserving of the grand finale of this edition of the AFC Cup. The Uzbeks are the first non-West Asian club to win the title since the tournament's inception in 2004. Nasaf's victory proved once again that the level playing field in Asia is rising. The quality of the teams showed all-round improvement. Kuwait Sports Club played very well but Nasaf proved to be the better side on that day.

Ivan Boskovic
Artur Gevorkyan was named the AFC Cup's Most Valuable Player.Gevorkyan played a pivotal role in setting up second-half goals for Ilkhom Shomurodov and . Ukraine-born Pereplotkins, who was granted Latvian citizenship in 2007 and has played over 30 times for the Baltic nation, and Montenegrin marksman Ivan Boskovic, have both been key figures as Nasaf Karshi became the first team from Uzbekistan to reach the final of an AFC club competition. The AFC Cup exploits of Nasaf Karshi's European stars Andrejs Pereplotkins and Ivan Boskovic are ensuring that the ever-evolving club competition is attracting media interest outside Asia.

Anderjs Pereplotkins
Nasaf took the lead in the 62nd minute after a goalless first period, when Ilkhom Shomurodov converted Artur Gevorkyan's pass at the back post. Nasaf scored a goal just two minutes later with Gevorkyan again roled as the provider as his cross was turned in by Andrejs Pereplotkins. Boris Kabi scored a goal for Kuwait SC in the 68th minute but was not enough to lift the trophy., and sealed a victory for Nasaf.

The home side began well and Erkin Baydullaev picked up a loose ball in the 10th minute but his long-range effort was wide of the mark. Nasaf almost opened the scoring five minutes later when Jahongir Jiyamuradov's cross picked out an unmarked Ivan Boskovic in the box but his header crashed against the bar with keeper Khaled Al Fadhli beaten. In the first half, Al Fadhli was forced to punch Gevorkyan's header away at the near post. Boskovic had another chance on the stroke of half-time but headed just wide of the near post.

Nasaf turned up the pressure in the second period and Shomurodov headed Botir Karaev's cross from the left narrowly over the bar in the 55th minute. Pereplotkins saw a shot from the edge of the box deflected wide and from the resulting corner, Al Fadhli did brilliantly to tip Shomurodov's header past the far post. Nasaf finally made the breakthrough after 62 minutes. Following a scramble in the box, Gevorkyan showed quick feet to wriggle through a crowded area and get off a shot with his left foot that Al Fadhli could only parry back into his path. The Turkmenistan international had enough composure to square the ball to Shomurodov and the striker tapped into an empty net at the far post.

Nasaf's joy was doubled two minutes later when Gevorkyan forged down the right and his low cross was turned in by Pereplotkins with a neat backheel inside the six-yard box. Boskovic glanced a header wide before Kuwait SC gave themselves a lifeline in the 68th minute when Nabeel Al Hlaichi's run down the left ended with a low cross into Kabi, who spun sharply and fired into the bottom corner.

Next year, we as Kelantanese can see more exciting games which also involves Kelantan FA and have chances to talk about about asian football rather than just local football. There will be huge crowds who are enthusiastic fans of TRW in the stadium. Import players such as Mohammad Ghaddar, Sergio Gonzales, and Chikondi Mpulula hopefully can made breakthroughs for Kelantan FA. However, TRW is still waiting for announcement on listed player for 2012.
