College Football Picks: Week 10

November 6th 2009 06:00
After nine weeks of college football, I have drawn a few conclusions:

1. There is no dominant team in the college football world.
2. no one respects the Big Ten Conference
3. Lou Holtz does not lend himself well to hi definition television
4. I didn't know this...but Duke has a football program!!!
5. BCS controversy is inevitable.

Anyway, on to this weeks picks:

Northwestern at #8 Iowa:

If there is one team that has had the number of the Hawkeyes in recent years...it is the Northwestern Wildcats. It seems that they always find a way to win in Iowa City. However, I believe this Hawkeye team is a team of destiny and they find a way to get it done against the Wildcats.

NU 17 Iowa 30

South Carolina at Arkansas:

A black and blue SEC battle. Is there any better way to spend a saturday. Steve Spurrier vs Bobby Petrino. I give Petrino the edge...just barely

SCU 21 Arkansas 24

Duke at North Carolina:

Duke has a football program that has wandered the desert of ineptitude for decades...but don't look now, but the Blue Devils are one win away from bowl eligibility. UNC is a tough team and it will be a tall order...I say the Devils don't have enough on this day

Duke 17 UNC 28

#7 Oregon at Stanford:

The Quack Attack is back. Oregon trounced USC and are skyrocketing up the standings. This could be a trap game, but I think Oregon is focused and continues their winning ways.

Oregon 28 Stanford 13

#12 USC at Arizona State:

USC is reeling after that dismantling in Eugene Oregon. ASU would be a nice bounceback game...if they didn't always give the Trojans trouble. I say USC gets it done.

USC 21 ASU 10

#15 Ohio State at #11 Penn State:

I predict a whiteout... Buckeye QB Terelle Pryor enters another hostile environment where crowd noise will be a factor. I predict we see the Pryor of old...and by that I mean interceptions and mistakes.

Ohio State 17 Penn State 31

#9 LSU at #3 Alabama:

The game of the weekend, Alabama on a bye week fell to number 3 in the BCS. A big win over the Tigers would conceivably put them back in the number 2 slot. I think that it will be a hard pounding game...and the tide gets it done...but don't bet the farm on it.

LSU 13 Alabama 16

Upset Picks:

#24 Wisconsin at Indiana:

After last week's game in Iowa City, you have to feel for the Hoosiers. They came up short again...one of these times they have to hold on...I say they do it this week.

Wisconsin 21 Indiana 24

#18 Oklahoma State at Iowa State:

This is an Oklahoma State team whose season has kept going from bad to worse. First Dez Bryant gets suspended...then they get spanked at home to the Texas Longhorns. The trend continues on Saturday in Ames.

Ok St. 14 ISU 20

#20 Oklahoma at Nebraska:

One can't help but remember years ago when this matchup always had the potential of being a one vs two game. We are far from then...but this is still an intriguing matchup. I say the Bo Pellini led Huskers beat backup QB Landry Jones and the Sooners.

Oklahoma 28 Nebraska 32

College Football Picks: Week 9

October 30th 2009 13:32
Now things are getting interesting. The BCS is even crazier and more frustrating to piece together than ever before. This weeks games could completely shake things up and create more frustration...or excitement.

Now on to the picks:

Indiana at #7 Iowa:

After their miracle win at Michigan State, we must acknowledge that the Iowa Hawkeyes may be a team of destiny. However, they do struggle with unranked teams and I think they get the win over the Hoosiers...but closer than it should be.

Indiana 24 Iowa 30

#5 Cincinnati at Syracuse:

The Bearcats have offically surpassed Ohio State to become the best team in Ohio. Even with QB Tony Pike on the shelf, the Bearcats are poised to play in a BCS game. The next test is Greg Paulus and the Orangmen. It will be tough, but they get it done.

Cincy 34 Syracuse 24

#12 Penn State at Northwestern:

Penn State is coming on strong and making a BCS push. This could be a trap game for them against Northwestern's prolific offense. Joepa will get it done, but this could be a shootout.

PSU 35 NU 31

Georgia at #1 Florida:

No one can refuse to acknowledge that Florida has shown weakness in recent weeks. They seem poised for an upset, I just don't see that happening this week.

Georgia 13 Florida 21

#3 Texas at #15 Oklahoma State:

This is the toughest game remaining for the Longhorns on their way to a National Championship birth. Without Dez Bryant, the Cowboys have still been relatively sharp. I predict that Colt and the boys will figure out a way to get it done.

Texas 20 OK St 16

#4 USC at #10 Oregon:

After their loss at Boise State, Oregon have become the team that no one wants to play. They are firing on all cylanders and breathing down some Trojan necks. USC is still young and their only loss to a ranked opponent in recent years has been to...The Oregon Ducks in 2007. I say history finds a way to repeat itself in Eugene.

USC 18 Oregon 30

Upset Pick of the Week...Upsets Galore:

#20 West Virginia at South Florida:

The Bulls have looked sluggish in recent weeks, but I say they return to early season form this week:

WVU 21 S Fla 28

#24 Ole Miss at Auburn:

A few weeks ago, everyone thought that Auburn was poised to make a run in the SEC...and that Ole Miss had a heisman candidate and a place near the top of the SEC. Well, neither panned out and now its a fight for bowl survival. I saw the Auburn defense gets it done.

Ole Miss 20 Auburn 30

#18 Miami at Wake Forest:

Is there a more schizophrenic team than Miami. One week, they look like national title contenders...the next they look like bottom feeders. I predict that this week, they look like bottom feeders.

Miami 10 WF 21

#21 South Carolina at Tennessee:

Tennessee has come so close to getting a big conference win...with taking both Florida and Alabama to the limit. Now they play in Knoxville against the Old Ball Coach Steve Spurrier. I predict that Lane Kiffin gets his first major SEC win against the Gamecocks.

SCU 17 Tennessee 30

WWE continues its trend of giving each pay-per-view event its own identity with "Bragging Rights" which features a card containing a Raw vs Smackdown card (sorry ECW). It also features two world title matches and a 7 on 7 tag match. This is the one event that has the highest potential to be a lasting tradition.

So anyhow here are my predictions:

Smackdown Divas (Michelle McCool, Beth Phoenix, and Natayla) vs Raw Divas (Melina, Kelly Kelly, and Gail Kim)

If this match lasts longer than 5 minutes...start a protest. I predict the Smackdown divas win only because they have the more competent wrestlers on their team...but i'm not betting the farm on it.

US Champion The Miz vs IC Champion John Morrison:

This has the potential to be a showstealer, with the potential future of the wrestling industry gracing the ring. I predict that John Morrison gets the win, but both of these men will ascend after this one.

Fatal Four Way for the World Heavyweight Title:

Undertaker (c) vs CM Punk vs Rey Mysterio vs Batista:

I am not a big fan of fatal four way matches. I just think they are congested and don't flow well. As a rule of thumb, the champion always retains in a fatal four way match...so Taker gets the win.

Anything Goes Iron Man Match for the WWE Title:

Randy Orton (c) vs John Cena:

The idea of seeing Orton and Cena wrestle for an hour sounds less fun than a root canal for me. The fact that it is anything goes will help and the fact that if Cena loses, he leaves Raw also provides some intrigue. Going along with the sentiment, I predict that Orton gets the win and Cena goes to the more comfortable fit of Smackdown.

7 on 7 Raw vs Smackdown Tag Team Match:

Team Raw (DX, Big Show, Mark Henry, Jack Swagger, Cody Rhodes, and Kofi Kingston) vs
Team Smackdown (Chris Jericho, Kane, R-Truth, Finlay, Matt Hardy, and Hart Dynasty):

This match could be a match of the year candidate as well as a great opportunity for exposure for some of the younger talent. I predict that after a long battle, the Raw team ends up victorious.

"Bragging Rights" should be at least an interesting experiment to watch unfold, whether it will succeed is up for debate...but it will be a fun ride.

Until Next Time,
Enjoy the Show

College Football Picks: Week 7

October 24th 2009 15:21
This is the first week where we have BCS standings to reflect on. Florida and Alabama are 1 and 2, not suprisingly, however they must play one another down the road. Other than that...it is a crap shoot.

Now, on to the picks

Two huge rivalry games cap off this pivotal weekend in the college football season...along with the SEC powers trying to keep pace with the best teams in the country...AKA the rest of the teams in the conference.

It should be a wild weekend...it should be fun

College Football Picks: Week 6

After my miscalculation of the Missouri-Nebraska game, yours truly has quite a bit of egg on my face. However, I will not incorrect predictions stop me from posting (obviously...I'm not that good at this). However, this site is about having fun with football and making the college football season more enticing. This week is an absolute barnburner with two top 5 teams squaring off.

The WWE continues in October with a new concept...have three main event matches take place within "Satan's Structure"...otherwise known as the Hell in a Cell match. It may prove to be an exhausting endeavor...but certainly one that will be memorable.

So...on to the predictions
