Rise of the Fallen:The Return of Motorola.

After years of failures and setbacks Motorola is finally coming out of its shell. Profits are booming. The shaming is over. No longer despised by the public, increasingly moving and taking stands, beloved again by investors, chastened and much changed-business is back for Motorola. It’s a historic shift that can’t be seen in any single event. The company is on crusade, its fighting a battle; to return the ailing cell phone maker to relevance with a slate of new phones- and a little help from Google.
Once the undisputed master and pioneer company of all things wireless, it’s the company should have been perfectly positioned to capitalize on the mobility revolution. Instead, though a series of missteps it ceded its standing as the No.1 provider of wireless phones to Nokia in 1998. It scored big in 2004 with its blockbuster hit Razr, but its failure to produce another hit has been nearly fatal. Motorola’s core business is under siege, brutal competition, stocks going nowhere. Motorola is in crisis. Even more problematic: in the most important sector for any device maker the fast growing market for web browsing smartphone. Competitors and other newer companies had been amassing customers and investors.
Motorola’s CEO got new strategy and think it’s the best for reviving Motorola’s best-known business. The plan is to build a series of user- friendly multimedia phones powered exclusively by Google’s Android OS, a computing platform that makes it easy for software developers to create applications for phones. Theses Google driven smartphone will help Motorola back in the game. Motorola need to hit homerun to stay alive in the market and if Motorola can’t blow consumers’ minds with a true breakthrough of a product- a kind of gadget hat makes people and executives abandon their iPhones and BlackBerries- Its devices could end up collecting dust on retailers’ shelves. Innovation is crucial in this business. Motorola’s handset sales have plunged 68% since 2006, and in 2007 an unexpected new rival has arrived, Apple, introduced a completely different kind of mobile phone, reshaping the market entirely, Steve Job’s brainchild-the iPhone has took the entire market by storm, it dominates the market, crushing every single competitors. Motorola needs a major makeover, a radical change, competition is fierce. Its all about “survival of the fittest”-the weak are killed, the wounded are eaten. The company was badly wounded and weakened by the fierce competition; it’s in the brink of self-destruct.
Making major radical changes is not an easy job for Motorola. Its require determination and focus. Motorola will face a tremendous number of challenges from day one, including keeping existing clients while simultaneously delivering a decisive strategy to regain lost market shares especially the US market, the world’s most important handset and services market. Motorola also needs to understand just cell phone, but also computers, fashion, software, internet and races. Partnering with Google will surely benefits Motorola’s business, by adopting Google’s Android OS and launching a massive strike- a sleeper hit, Motorola would be able to boost its presence in the market. Motorola is already moving in this direction. Its newest product- the Droid X is a clear evidence of these radical changes inside Motorola and Droid X is a huge hit. Motorola is still in the process of delivering the Droid X to consumers. But in order to fully maximize the smartphone’s potential; the company needs to stay focused on the iPhone’s 4 woes. The time has come for Motorola to capitalize, the iPhone 4 woes is the most favorable time to steal Apple’s market share. But it won’t be easy it will take tremendous effort such as marketing muscles and large scale advertising. Currently, the company is engaging in a full scale advertising initiative aimed at highlighting the issues; consumers are having with the iPhone 4. Motorola is trying to pursue consumers that Droid X is the ideal replacement for Apple’s smartphone. In today’s mobile market, the competition is fierce. And the winner regardless of the quality of its products will find a way to do the best job at making consumers aware of the iPhone’s flaws and highlight all of its product’s benefits. That must be Motorola. If isn’t the Droid X won’t have a shot. Motorola also has several other competitors that are also doing their best to highlight the iPhone’s 4 flaws rival like Nokia. The time has come for Motorola to stand up and charge. The Droid X may have proved particularly successful, arriving in the market on time and on target. The phone arrives as Google Android OS is riding high, enjoying strong approval ratings and recommendations from consumers. The demand for Droid X is huge it almost outstrip the supply. There are reports that Verizon Wireless has problems in meeting huge customers’ demand. The incredible marketing power of Verizon Wireless and the temporary shortages of the Android OS powered phones (HTC) has contributed to Droid X ‘s strong demand, with the temporarily out of the running consumers may simply turn to the Droid X. Verizon Wireless superior network provide Droid X an opportunity to trump the iPhone 4 and “a killer punch”.
Tenacious is good word to describe Motorola and its comeback. And tenacity and efficiency will be enough to keep Motorola in the game. But to rise to the next level and really boost it growth, it may have to find a little more heart. Motorola answer to competition: charged! With the backing of Google, with its very good reputation and nice brand name Motorola could use Google’s name to influence the market. Motorola must think that there are other major competitors in the marketplace vying for its market share; they are like hungry pack of wolves trying to steal others’ food. The reality is Motorola Is not alone, Nokia is on move. The company is not competing with just Apple. The company is against every other vendor, it’s a jungle out there. And it needs to capitalize on the issues with other products just as much as those in Apple’s device.
