Review - Mon Jan 26 - Big Day Out - Flemington Racecourse

To darn hot are the first words that come to mind...illegal T Shirt sales is by far the second thing thats comes to mind.
I am not to sure if they reached their quota, but from all accounts they were hoping for 35,000 at this event.
The crowd for general was really well behaved with only a few incidents during the course of the event. There were far to many bands to keep track of at this event, but the main attractions for myself, of which I missed out on seeing both was Tex Perkins and Neil Young.
It was the first time I had been there and it looked very interesting with all of the separate specialty purpose built stage areas, but I guess, once you've seen one, you've seen them all.
I was more compelled by the craziness at closing time. One drunk UUMM, darker male getting violent with a police dog, and I had to jump in on that one, I saw it as usual that people just walk by while they witness someone attacking a dog, it was not extreme but he was grabbing the dog by the nose and pushing it, the dog had his muzzle on.
The streams of people jostling for trams, which were frequent enough but still struggled with the numbers of people at once. Walking down the street, road side traders selling illegal T Shirts, stealing rightful monies from the artists who had just performed on stage, the same darker man bringing his gang back to haras the security guards, all that fun stuff that aint so cool in the long run.
Again, the police did a great job of keeping the ******* away from and out of the festival.
A great event, but I would not buy tickets to go there if it was for leisure only.
