Review - Kiis my Grass - Sun Jan 24 - Sidney Myer Music Bowl

I think I am getting old. I felt like i was a grandmother of the zygotes.
The music made me sick and I stood in awe as these young ankle biters danced for hours. Oh I guess they were the days. "Energy" what is that?
I spent majority of my time around a few of the outside tents.
Not that I can or want to remember many of the bands names although one named AUR did stand out as the original and fully together act that i saw on the day. These guys were great, good presence on stage and a great lead vocalist, although I knew they were having trouble with some of their equipment on stage.
One band i had seen previously at another gig was on stage this day, as soon as I saw their name, I had to bite my tongue and think, OK, i'll give them a chance, maybe their last gig was just a bad run. Greenmatics, you are a nice band but the lead vocalist needs a lot of coaching. Way to far in the head register and not controlled, the engineers did all they could to work her voice, but nothing worked in the sense of improvement.
Beyond this, the other acts were electronic, drum n bass and that type of thing. I truly struggle to find any sense in a positive review, when I am old school and believe that DJ'S and real music without the need of computer enhancement should not be mixed together in the same event. I even struggle to understand how some of these acts were placed at such a large event, maybe budgeting, I don't know.
The day went by fairly smoothly and the police did a great job with more than 50 arrests but less than 100. I witnessed 1 drink spiking incident and witnessed one gang beating. So the after dark agro and violence was surely there, but this was a true minority that hampered the event for every one else.
A nice day for the youngens, but just watch out for trouble and do not for a second take your eyes off your drinks. But for the over 30's that appreciate REAL music, I can say I was feeling ill by the end of the event.
The good thing about this event is there are quite a few stages so you can float around all day finding the acts that you want to hear.
