Visions
April 20th 2008 22:19
Kevin took the day off from his work, called Tina and told her that he had to take care of some things over the weekend aside from what his mother wanted him for that required his immediate attention. She asked if there was anything she could do to help. He thanked her but said that there wasnt anything that anyone could help with. He told her that the situation was still family related and that his family was still insisting that only blood relatives become involved. He spent the morning looking at the picture of Elizabeth Taylor in her Egyptian gown and makeup. He wanted so badly to be like she was, full of power and spine. Even the real Cleopatra was able to stand up to anyone and claim anything as her own. He then looked at the clothes and make up that came with it. He knew that putting the makeup on would take at least an hour or more and he looked at the clock.
It was still early in the afternoon when he looked at the outfit so he still had plenty of time. He took the entire day off of work so that he could mentally prepare himself for what he had to do and then for what he had to do while he was doing it. He was just pulling out the wig when a thought came to him.
This wasnt who he was. She was a legend in her time then and now. He was just a coward hiding behind closed doors lying to everyone about who he was. He was playing the movie in his living room and he could hear her taking control of the scene that she was in. He wished he could be more like her. He went into his living room and looked at the screen.
He thought to himself that there was no way he could be anything like her. There was more than enough time to put the makeup and the dress on, but there would never be enough time to imitate her and make her feel that she wasnt being insulted. He felt foolish for thinking what he was thinking. He wondered why he was involved in the situation that he found himself in. He even wondered how the person, or even people involved in this knew who he was and what he did. Everything he did in his own home when no one was around was kept secret from everyone. On the very rare occasions that he ventured out into the world to indulge in his lifestyle everything he did was kept closely guarded. He never dressed in drag outside of the house. Nothing in his tone or actions even suggested that he was gay. The bars he went to could have been questionable at best as to whether or not they were gay. They were bars where business men who were looking to indulge in their preference while at the same time keeping it quiet and discreet could go to do both. He never let anyone know where he was going or who he was seeing when he got there. The men he slept with were just men who were looking to use him as much as he was willing to use them. Even now and again, when his darker urges and desires found themselves kicking in, he would venture into adult bookstores to get a quick fix in one of the booths with glory holes in it. To him and the several faceless men he did anything with, it was just nameless faceless sex that helped to bring him into a further state of depression.
Despite the precautions he took to stay clean, safe, and discreet, he never felt better when he came home. He would look in the mirror every time he came home and the person looking back at him was a total stranger to him. His thin face was always tired and pale looking with stress written all over it mingled with guilt for what he had just done. He remembered going home one night with a guy that he had managed to get picked up by. His name was Nick. Nick had felt the need to introduce himself when they decided to go back to his place. Kevin asked him why he wanted to go through any of the trouble.
Because you look like youre as tired of running away as I am. He said. This can be anything from a night to something more if we both want it to be.
They went back to the guys house to finish what they had intended to start. They went in to Nicks apartment quietly enough. Kevin had told him that he needed every possible ounce of discretion to be used when they left the club.
Why are you married? Nick asked. He was a younger guy, more than probably one of the many rent boys that plagued this particular club. What he was doing picking up on Kevin was still a mystery because Kevin never felt that he was one of the better-looking guys. At the very least not good looking enough for someone like Nick to pick him up without expecting to have to eventually pay for it before the night was over or before it had even started.
Im not married. Kevin said. I just work for a family that doesnt approve or appreciate the lifestyle.
With the agreement of discretion and the assurance that Kevin was picked up because Nick liked average looking guys when he wasnt working because they made better tricks or one night stands, Kevin felt a little better and yet at the same time he felt no better. They had just gotten into the apartment and started in on each other half removing, half ripping off each others clothes when Kevin stopped him. He told Nick that he had to go to the bathroom. He walked him to the bathroom and turned the light on for him. Before Kevin went into the bathroom, Nick showed him where the bedroom was and told him thats where he would be waiting for him.
Kevin went into the bathroom and took a piss. He stood nervously shaking as he did. He wondered what he was doing in the bathroom of someone who normally sold himself to whoever could meet his price. He still wondered what Nick saw in him, but decided that he just needed to go with whatever was going on and give in to his needs. As he fought with himself, he realized that he was finishing and needed to make a decision soon. As the last drop fell from his dick as he shook it, he decided to let go of his inhibitions and go with Nick into the bedroom and indulge. When it was done, hed face the consequences and the day.
He flushed the toilet when he was finished and went to the sink to wash his hands and to splash water on his face. He stood back up, water dripping from his face. He wasnt sure if he wanted to grab a towel and dry his face, or bend back over for another splash and then let the water just drip from his face and let his face dry naturally. The choice was easy to make. He bent back down and splashed his face again. He stood back up and looked deeply at himself in the mirror. What he saw in the mirror was not entirely unusual for him to see. And yet at the same time, he had to brace himself for what he was going to see.
He looked at his face in the mirror and almost let the scream that was welling up inside of him out. He couldnt see the face that he usually saw in the mirror anymore. Where was the average looking guy with the sunken in eyes that stared back out at him when he looked in the mirror? Where were the thin lips that had no hope of kissing a real man on a regular basis? Where was the long thin face that haunted his daily routine? Where was the guy who had slightly fine stringy blonder hair that was lucky to be combed into a fashionable fashion that allowed him to be looked at wherever he went without being made fun of the way he felt and thought when people looked at him?
In a way that same person was there, but there were other people all around him. He turned around to look in the bathroom. As far as he could see there was no one in the bathroom with him. And yet when he looked back to look at himself in the mirror he noticed that it didnt make the people in the mirror go away. He tried turning away from the mirror. He had met these people before and he knew how to deal with them. There were times when he looked away and knew that doing so did the trick. He found the images would go away. He turned back expecting them to be gone. But when he turned back to look they had not only not left, he was deeper in the reflection than usual. And he saw that Tina was in the mirror again with the other people.
As he looked closer, feeling he was watching something rather than being a part of it, he wondered if it really was Tina looking at him with that scowl on her face. She was wearing Japanese apparel and her hair was up in the seemingly usual Japanese style. But Tina wasnt wearing any makeup to look like who Kevin thought she was supposed to be. What made it worse was the reality of the people who stood around her or behind her. It was all of her family and all of their friends. By friends, Kevin realized that not one person he saw in the mirror were any of his friends. They were all friends he had managed to know through her. They too were all wearing Japanese clothes. But they were also not wearing any makeup.
Thy doom is nigh. Thy knell is rung, Thy knell, thy knell is rung. The image of Tina sang out. Kevin knew the scene that was being played. In the Mikado Yum-Yum and Nanki-Poo were caught by Katisha. She decided that letting them and anyone around them who was trying to support the decisions they were making all know that she was there to get Nanki-Poo and that nothing was going to stop her. And now this time Tina was Katisha and he was Nanki-Poo. Nick was taking on the likeness, if only in clothes and position, of Yum-Yum.
Go away. Kevin said in his head. He wasnt about to say anything out loud because he didnt need Nick to think he was crazy.
This wasnt the first time that hed had visions like this. The first time it happened the person he was with thought he needed help. Kevin had run out of that guys house screaming in fear for his life. When he got home he had almost killed himself over the guilt he felt. As time went on the visions came with each new trick. They grew stronger, but so did Kevin. And he fought them off every time. But lately they had come back with force and vengeance. Lately they were coming when he wasnt with anyone. They came when he thought about it. And when they came he had to see it through to the end. He knew he was going to have to see it through to the end this time as well. But it offered him no comfort knowing that this time there was another person involved who was waiting for him in the real world not knowing what was going on inside of his head.
If true her tale, thy knell is rung, pink cheek, bright eye, rose lip, smooth tongue! Her family and friends chanted in the background.
None of you understand. Kevin said to all of them. The figures merely ignored him and walked around fanning themselves. Tina stood ever defiant in her position and looked at him with a glare that could have kept the polar ice caps from ever melting. You cant understand what Im going through or what any of this does to me.
The hour of gladness is dead and gone; in silent sadness I live alone! The hope I cherished all lies lifeless lies, and all has perished, all has perished, save love, which never dies! Tina said looking at Kevin with that same cold glare.
Kevin found himself fearing that stare more than he normally did. Hed seen that look before both in reality and in the mirror when she took on the presence if not the true image of Katisha. In no real physical way was Tina like Katisha. She wasnt physically hideous to look at. But the similarity was never in that realm to begin with. The similarity between the two women was that Katisha was shunned because she was hideous and that Kevin in many ways shunned Tina simply because she was a woman and he was a gay man. It was a sad and pathetic excuse to shun any woman whose only crime was loving a man who was incapable or unwilling to love them back in the way they deserved more than needed to.
If true her tale, thy knell is rung. If true her tale, thy knell is rung, Thy knell is rung! Her family and friends sung at Kevin.
Nick became worried about how long Kevin had been in the bathroom. He went into the bathroom without knocking to see Kevin standing in front of the mirror looking at himself, his facial expressions changing constantly. He saw fear change into repulsion then into anger, then back to worry and fear. He walked up behind him and looked into the mirror to see if maybe he could see what Kevin was seeing. He suddenly felt bad about slipping Kevin the ecstasy pill hed given him to help him relax. It looked like Kevin was having a bad reaction to it instead of being as horny as he was when they first walked into the apartment. When he went to put his hands on Kevins shoulders, Kevin reacted accordingly at first, and then shrugged the hands off of him in an almost violent manner.
Nick wasnt sure what to do. He wanted so badly to see what Kevin was seeing in the mirror so that he could help him. As Kevin stared into the mirror he watched as Nicks face and body joined completely with Kevin and the others continuing to change both form and clothes to be one either Yum-Yum or Pitti-Sing to help him challenge Tina who still looked like Katisha. Nick would either look like Yum-Yum or he would take on the form of Pitti-Sing. At first he was Yum-Yum. Now he bore the resemblance of Pitti-Sing.
Away, nor prosecute your quest from our intention, well expressed, you cannot turn us! The state of your connubial views towards the person you accuse does not concern us! If she's thy bride, restore her place, oh fool, oh blind, oh rash, oh base! Nick said.
Pink cheek, that rulest where wisdom serves! Bright eye, that foolest heroic nerves! Tina said to the mirrored image of Nick who now bore the likeness of Yum- Yum. She had walked over and grabbed him by the arm to make him face her. When he refused to look her in the face, Tina spun him around and slapped him in the face before continuing to sing to him. Rose lip, that scornest lore-laden years! Smooth tongue, that warnest who rightly hears! Thy doom is nigh. Pink cheek, bright eye! Thy knell is rung, rose lip, smooth tongue! Thy doom is nigh, thy knell is rung, pink cheek, bright eye! Rose lip, smooth tongue! Thy doom is nigh, thy knell, thy knell is rung!
If true her tale, thy knell is rung, pink cheek, bright eye, rose lip, smooth tongue! Her family and friends all said to Nick as they tried to surround him. His image ran to Kevin who held him close.
Theres only a little truth in what shes saying. Kevin said aloud to the mirror. Nick wrapped his arms around him and tried to hold him closer to him hoping to bring him out of his state of mind. You have to swear not to believe what she says. And if you do believe it please dont hold it against me.
Your anger pray bury for all will be merry, I think you had better succumb. Nick said to Kevin. He had no idea where that line came from or why he was saying it to Kevin. And yet at the same time Nick couldnt help but to be looking in the mirror when he said it. This made him wonder if he was saying this to Kevin or to the mirror. Inside of the mirrored image Kevin was seeing, Nick had become Pitti-Sing again and told Tina what he had just said.
Now comes the blow! Kevin said to Nick as Nick held onto him. He looked into the mirror and still saw nothing but knew that Kevin was seeing something and that whatever he was seeing he needed to be saved from.
Prepare yourselves for news surprising! Tina said.
How foil my foe? Kevin asked her. It was now almost as if he were in two different worlds. The real world where Nick was holding on to him praying to every deity that he came out of whatever state he was in, and in the mirror world where a great debate set to operatic music was being had.
No minstrel he, despite bravado! Tina said making sure that despite the fact that a majority of what was being displayed was only in Kevins head, that whoever or whatever was giving him the strength to fight back was going to understand that she was not a force to be reckoned with either in his head or in reality. Her voice mixed in with the voice Kevin always heard projected itself from the mirror to be heard in the bathroom by both men.
Ha! Ha! I know! Nick said back to the mirror.
He is the son of your, Tina said coming closer to the mirror. Kevin could see her but Nick wasnt quite there yes.
Shes coming closer! Kevin shouted. He tried to turn away but couldnt move from where he was.
Ye torrents roar! Ye tempests howl! Your wrath outpour with angry growl! Do ye your worst, my vengeance call shall rise triumphant over all! she shouted in song to Kevin and Nick. Nick held on to a fighting Kevin. Tinas Katisha like image was now trying to reach out through the mirror and in Kevins eyes he could see her hand transcending time and space within all boundaries.
We'll hear no more, ill-omened owl. To joy we soar, despite your scowl! The echoes of our festival shall rise triumphant over all! Nick said waving his arm towards the mirror. The words were forming in his head and coming out of his mouth with ease as though hed known them all his life. The idea to protect Kevin from something unseen to him and yet so real to Kevin was all that mattered.
Prepare for woe, ye haughty lords, at once I go Mikado-wards. Tina said going back into the mirror. She pointed her finger at Nick and for the first time since hed come into the bathroom he had actually seen part of what Kevin was seeing.
Away you go, collect your hordes; proclaim your woe in dismal chords. We do not heed their dismal sound, Nick said to the mirror. He took Kevin ad turned him around. Stay with me Kevin. He said to him. I dont know what Im seeing or why Im seeing it, but Im not going anywhere until I know youre safe. He kissed Kevin who for a split second looked like he was almost snapping out of whatever trance he put himself into. He looked back at the mirror, kissing Nick before he did, pleading with him in his eyes to help. Nick looked into the mirror with him. For joy reigns everywhere around. They sang together. The image in the mirror vanished and all that was left was a stunned Nick and an eye closing Kevin who was passing out.
Kevin fell to the floor in a slump and was out for a few minutes. Nick stayed in the bathroom with him not knowing if he was going to live or die. He was more afraid of the consequences if he was actually going to live. If he died, he knew he could at the very least get away with manslaughter if they accused him of it because they were both in a place where drugs were given out as freely as condoms. When Kevin came to he looked at his Nick who looked more frightened than anything.
How much did you see? Kevin asked.
Enough to know that you were having more than a simple doubt. He answered not knowing what to say.
And youve been in here the whole time?
I came in after youd been in here a few minutes longer than most people I bring home with me who say they need to use the bathroom before we do anything. Those people just root my things to see what Im like. I thought you were doing the same thing at first. Then I saw you looking into the mirror and debating with what you were seeing and what you were feeling.
Did you hold on to me?
I didnt want to lose you. He said. He didnt know if it was the right thing to say. At this point he really didnt care if it was the right thing to say anymore. I mean we may never see each other again after tonight, especially if you decide to leave now.
Would you be mad if I wanted to leave?
Id understand completely if you wanted to leave.
If I told you I wanted to stay would you be all right with that?
I want that very much.
Help me up?
He helped Kevin up and the two men stood as close to each other as any two men could without kissing, which followed within seconds of that realization. Kevin took Nicks face and kissed him lightly at first and then turned it into a passionate kiss that seemed as though he wanted to stay longer than a night. And so it was for a few weeks. Nick and Kevin made it no secret to each other that they were falling in love with each other. But Nick had to be honest and told Kevin that he was nothing more than a common rent boy. Kevin held him closer that night and explained to him that the reason he had to ask for discretion was that he was posing as a straight man and that sooner or later he was bound to be caught by the woman he was dating and she would then tell her family and friends and then Kevin would have to leave because there wouldnt be anything left for him. Nick told him that if that day ever came he would gladly stop doing what he did to be with Kevin so that they could start a life with each other. After Kevin had calmed down the day before, he called Nick. There was no answer and so he left a message. He told him the day he feared was coming faster than he could have ever imagined.
It was still early in the afternoon when he looked at the outfit so he still had plenty of time. He took the entire day off of work so that he could mentally prepare himself for what he had to do and then for what he had to do while he was doing it.
