Respectable in the 80's - Respectable in the 80's

Wow, October was my last post. My poor neglected blog ... I promise to write more next year!!

Well here we are again, as John Lennon says ".Another year over, a new one just begun" or about to begin in this case. I have to make something clear here - I don't like New Year. You won't find me woo wooing come 12 on New Year's Eve or doing Auld Lang Syne in the street with the neighbours. Nope not me. I will be sitting in, with a glass of something, probably watching Jool's Holland and eating something.(before I spend a month regretting it and going all nil by mouth) Why? Well, we are all another year older, (albeit in most cases another year wiser) - New Year means a long wait to summer, and warm days, being skint and waiting for pay day and all the sparkling lights and glitter of the month of December are taken down and put away for another year - to me January seems just dull, wet, cold and well downright grey. Also if your year has been great, you don't want it to end, and if it has been, well, not so good (we have all had them) all you really want to do is move on and forget it - putting two fingers up to it and saying off you go

Falling out of love

October 25th 2010 20:18
You have all heard the expression " That was just the icing on the cake" - "the straw that broke the camels back" .. well today has been like that for me. Over the last couple of weeks something has been building up in me and dare I say it, I think I am falling a little bit out of love with Everton and football in general.

OMG!!! the people that know me best might be a bit shocked by this, - Everton are probably my longest standing relationship with anybody or any thing outside my immediate family. I have give my all to them -supporting Everton has never been a one night, half hearted affair : I have dedicated my weekends and spare time to them, travelled abroad and spent a night asleep on an airport floor for them, spent my last pounds on them, cried real tears over them, screamed in glee with the pleasure they have given me, broken up relationships, let friends down for them - Yes I am talking about that Everton and it is that Everton have really peeved me off

Memories... My Derby experiences

October 15th 2010 12:15
So this weekend is the first Derby of the Season. Is'nt it funny that no matter what, the thought of this game, always puts butterflies in the hardest of any blue's tummy.

I love Everton, have a season ticket and I too feel sick and queesy,. I have a certain macabre sense of excitement on the eve of a derby. Here is my run down of my own favourite derby memories.. I am not football acadmic by any means so don't expect a pass by pass acount of the match

Grim Tales

September 29th 2010 12:05
Over the last couple of evenings I have been transported back to the 1980's with two programmes that acutally (seriously) made me well up and want to cry. Not a lot does that to me on TV these days and it is a tribue really to the wrtiters and actors how they evoked emotions like that via a TV show
[
First up was finding this 80's grity drama set in my home town of Liverpool by default on BBC4. I have never had the opportunity to watch this which suprises me as I normally avidly tune in to anything City of Liverpool orientated on TV or Cinema

In my next life I will be a Vet

September 25th 2010 11:30
When I was a kid, I only ever wanted to be one thing a Vet. This sort of fizzled out when I got to third year senior school and I just did'nt have the natural intelligence required to do a job of this nature... I ended up somehow through a mixture of discovering football, pubs and other teenage stuff not doing a job in anyway related to any of my childhood dreams.

As I mentioned yesterday Duncan has not been well and so I took him along to the Vet this morning for their Saturday morning surgery (I don;t even think GP's do this!). Anyway, after much ado, (this was me getting out of bed and deciding what to wear) I got him there. I have to explain, now about Duncan and his love of the Vet's. Most dog's are outside the surgery crying, being dragged in by their collars/leads, scared of what is to come - Duncan bounds in their full of delight at the wonderment of what other Dog's, Animals and people are in there for him to make friends with

I need sleep!

September 24th 2010 11:16
Several times today my work colleagues have asked me if I am tired and if I have had a late night? Oh yes I certainly have, but not in the ways I used to have a late night many years ago, after a night out in Lennons Bar . No such luck! Unfortunately a certain young black labrador has kept me up half the night with his whinning like a big baby. You will hear a lot on this blog about my dog Duncan. He is a lovely, gorgeous, cute puppy but he is HARD work! (as you can see from the picture below!)

Who me? Naughty? Nah
