The bats showed up

April 27th 2010 12:25
After a crazy game yesterday.. must admit I didn't watch it because my eyes were glued to NESN and the Bruins. But I was switching back and forth. The Red Sox brought their bats yesterday. In an exciting and high scoring game the sox were able to squeak out a win against the 3rd seed in the East, the Blue Jays.

We need to continue to win divisional game because it's the only way we're going to catch up. We're now 2 games under .500 with 2 more games against the Jays coming up. The Jays are 10-10, hopefully with a sweep we can pass them into the 3rd spot and start making our run at the division leading Rays and Yanks.

Red sucks?

April 26th 2010 14:26

Man, if you guys are watching what I am watching, this season has been brutal for the nation. Every game its the same thing. Our starting pitching is doing well then the middle relief comes in and wipes out the starters decision. Then we fail to put up some runs to maintain or regain the lead. Then we lose. The Baltimore Orioles just snapped their 10 game losing streak when they overcame a 4-2 deficit in yesterdays game to win 7-6.

The Sox are currently in fourth place in the AL East. The Rays are atop the division with a league leading record of 14-5 and the Yankees are right behind with a record of 12-6. The surprising Blue Jays are in third. Riding the hot bat of Vernon Wells with his league leading 7 dingers. The Jays are 10-9. The Sox are still below .500 by three games with an 8-11 record. This is going to be a tight division race all year.

Daisuke is coming back from injury and replaced Wakefield in the starting rotation. Clearly, Wake wasn't very happy with his movement to the bullpen, but they couldn't move the big three (Beckett, Lester, Lackey) and Clay has been pitching really well. So let's move the knuckleballer to the bullpen. I don't have this decsion, but Wakefield had a very strong year last year prior to his injury and started off this season with some very productive starts. Hopefully Daisuke can return to his pre-baseball classic form and really help sure up our starting rotation. It's only April, but our rotation is not where we'd like them to be productivity wise and our bats aren't swinging either. We need some big time help and gotta make sure we don't fall to far behind the division lead, because the way the Rays and Yanks have been playing, we don't wanna be packing it in, in July.

Darnell McDonald Who?

April 21st 2010 13:28
I will admitt, that I turned this game off when they were down 6-2. I was watching playoff hockey, so you can't hate me. But my roommate came home last night and was like yoo put the fuckin sox game on they're making a come back.
Props to being a man about getting bench Ortiz. Can't hate on a guy who supports his replacement.

So I tuned in for the last 2 innings. Pap looks good. We benched Ortiz but I give him props because he sat in the dug out like a man and supported Lowell's at bat before he headed into the locker room.

And by the way, I called the final 2 at bats before McDonald came to the plate. I called that the Captain was going to walk to fill the bases up and that the Pawtucket call up Darnell would hit a shot off the green monster to win the game. And just incase you missed it or have a hard time reading.. I NAILED IT. Just call me Nastradamus. Home boy off the monster with the bases loaded to win the game. Yup that's exactly what happened.

So who is this kid, or man, Darnell McDonald? He is a 12 year professional, drafted in the first round in 1997 by the Baltimore Orioles. He has spent short stints with major league clubs such as the Orioles, Twins, and Reds. But the majority of this guys career was spent in the minors. He was called up by the Sox from Triple-A Pawtucket in case Jacoby wasn't able to play after batting practice. Little did Darnell know, that last night will be a storybook memory. He was put in the 8th inning with the Sox down by 2 runs. He launched a 2 run shot over the green monster to tie up the game. Pap closed out the top of the ninth with the score still tied. And what do you know, the bottom of the ninth and he was just getting started. The night -- and the game -- ended with McDonald smashing a walk-off single off the Monster with two outs. Just like that, it was Red Sox 7, Rangers 6. Darnell was mobbed on the field by his teammates and was interviewed after the game about his herioc storybook game ending hit. "For me, there was a lot of perseverance and hard work, and I just kept plugging along," McDonald said. "And to get to this point, I can't put it into words how much it means to me."

Is it our Pitching or Hitting?

April 19th 2010 13:50

The Red Sox were faced with another loss yesterday afternoon to the hands of the Tampa Bay Rays once again. The rubber match is today at 11 this morning. Yes, another friggin early day game. Well maybe it'll help because we clearly aren't awake during out night names.

Wow can you believe its already baseball season. Holy shit I feel like it was yesterday when I was telling every asshole I know from New York to go fuck themselves because their beloved Yanks had won their first world series since 2000. We got one of the greatest rivalries in sports history starting off the 2010 baseball season tomorrow night. The first pitch should be thrown right around 8:15 p.m
