Okay, I couldn't resist, as much as I was trying to avoid even wasting time on this ridiculous subject! Why is America all of a sudden so consumed with Kanye West insulting Taylor Swift at the MTV VMAs Sunday night? Every media facet from reputable CNN to gossip mags like People Magazine are still covering this topic. First off, the mass majority of people who are probably making such a big deal out of all this probably don't even know who the hell Kanye West is or Taylor Swift, for that matter, but are jumping on the band wagon that he should be crucified for interrupting a tween queen stumbling through a silly acceptance speech for a bronzed popcorn statuette!
Secondly, I could see if he would have hit her, or pushed her out of the spotlight so he could be seen, or even if he would have snatched the award out of her hands and bolted for the back door! But he didn't do any of these things, all he did was make a valid point that her video sucked in comparison to the other nominees, namely Beyonce (who's shocked expression was a great plea for her lack of acting skills). Yes, I agree, he was outline, rude, and just a complete ass for doing it, but he did it and no one was physically hurt, if anything he just helped skyrocket this little girl's career because she's now the poster child for award acceptance abuse.
Lastly, lets be brutally honest, this chick has as about much singing talent as any American Idol reject. Her vocals might be great for a tween awards show like the Teen's Choice Awards, but she is no where near the talents of Pink, Kelly Clarkson, or even Lady Gaga (crazy outfits and personality aside). I'm not even mentioning Beyonce because anyone who's heard her sing knows she's got some serious chops and shouldn't even be insulted by having to share an awards category with the likes of a Taylor Swift. I'm not trying to be mean, but this is like putting a high school quarterback against an NFL quarterback! And Beyonce bringing her back on stage to finish her speech was a nice gesture, but please don't mistake that it was all about saving her own face in this debacle. I'm pretty sure that she could care less about this girl's feelings over a VMA!
Again, West was disrespectful, period. But is Taylor Swift such an important figure that we need to waste any further time pampering her hurt feelings? Kanye will be seen as a bad guy for a while, and Swift will garner more record sales, big whoop! Lets move on people to something more important, especially for the MTV crowd, like your future with health care being reformed or continuing on as a broken feature of this country.

So when did the words health, care, and reform become dirty words? Whey they are all used together with President Obama's plan, that's when. I will never begin to understand how anyone could be angered by the idea of some type of reform concerning costs and options concerning one's health. Anything that could possibly wrangle in the bulging costs concerning premiums and copays, I'm all game for. Even extending some kind of care for people less fortunate than I am is not a negative thing either. As a young adult with a child, I do understand that some day I'll be elderly, as will my son, and I don't look forward to being retired and worrying about how I am going to make ends meet with just a social security check (that may be gone by the time my generation hits the age of 50) and continuing my insurance coverage knowing that even now I have pre-existing conditions that will always keep my premium high.
It hurts my heart knowing how many children there are in our country without health insurance because their parents can't afford it or their parent's employment can't offer it. These angry people I see at town hall meetings across the country screaming and chanting and carrying their humorous signs in opposition to reform all probably have insurance, and I'm sure they're paying the same high premiums I'm paying, and I'm definitely sure they will all be elderly and extra dependent on coverage needs someday if they aren't already. So why does it seem that they are more angered at reform than those without?
The only things I can come up with are ignorance and fear. Ignorance in the form of Republicans and radicals who are pushing falsehoods about death panels and higher prices than what's out there now and the scary ideas of socialism and even communism. Fear in that they think their own lives are in peril because 'change' is detrimental, especially when it might mean more government involvement in personal affairs. I get it, I guess I can kind of understand both sides of the spectrum, but I also understand and get that SOMETHING needs to be done, even if minor. Change is always good in some form.

Sarah Palin Just Won't Shut Up!

July 28th 2009 16:25
What is it with this woman? She not only fumbles McCain's campaign (not a bad thing), makes a complete ass out of herself with her lack of ANY knowledge concerning politics in the lower 48, backs out of her Governorship duties in the state of Alaska before completing her first term, but now she continues with her nonsensical speeches and even a book deal possibly worth millions! WHY?? Why does this person command soo much of our attention and why do people actually LIKE and respect her? I would have half an inch of respect for her if she had something of worth to offer besides hunting tips and how NOT to raise your teenage daughter. Even when she's speaking about everyday normal stuff concerning her family and just being her, her words make no sense what so ever! Can she not afford a speechwriter, do they not make those in Alaska?

McCain's campaign was nice enough to help dress her and keep her closet full of decent suits and shoes and even glasses, but no one took the time to help her put words together to form cohesive sentences in order to actually communicate responses to questions in interviews or even relaying her reasoning for stepping down and handing over of power to the new Governor of Alaska. Anyone with at least a high school education, who's taken at least 5 English classes ever in their life, should be offended by the mere mentioning of her name! Men, understandably, will like her even if she never opens her mouth because of her possible sexual appeal (ugh, excuse me, I think I just threw up in my mouth saying that), but women should have no reason to want to even identify with her. Yes, she's very conservative in the small bit of thought within her head that bodes well with her ultra conservative Republican party, but even with that in mind, there has to be a moment where you would draw the line as to who you would want to represent and speak for your party. Especially, if you're considering the highest office in the land!

At least Bush, with his stupid Texas smirk, had supporting members to kind of somewhat cover his tracks for him and build him up as being a great candidate when he stole the 2000 election and duped the country into re-electing him in 2004, but Palin has none of this. She seems to have no handlers to wrangle her in from rambling aimlessly during news conferences, or cheat sheets for how to be a politician, or a cheat sheet for how to appear an intellectual equal amongst her peers. Alaska isn't known for much besides oil and ice, but now the world knows it for descending upon the lower 48 one of the most unqualified and most embarrassing examples of a politician ever! Even the former 'Terminator' actor and former Mr. Universe bodybuilder, Arnold Schwarzeneggar has more knowledge of the country and politics than she does. That's pretty sad, with no offense to Gov. Schwarzennegar.
