Andrew Johns
Andrew Johns

I was musing about the Andrew Johns drug scandal last night; I wondered how it was possible for him to dodge so many drug tests. The conclusion I came to? Well, it seems likely that the Newcastle club covered for him

Stupid Mistakes

October 31st 2007 01:54
I am so peeved right now. Do you want to know why? Because I just typed a massive post for my other blog (www.famouszoo.com), got to the end, went to copy and paste into Word to pick up any typos and somehow managed to delete the whole damn thing!!!
I put so much effort into it and the post was brilliant, even if I do say so myself. And now I am much too pissed off to want to do it all again, because there is no way I can make it that good again.
Has this happened to anyone else? I'm sure it has. Is there any way to get it back, I know its too late for me now, but there is always next time I do somthing as stupid as this? So today I want you to tell me your tales of woe, to cheer me up if nothing else. Make it up if nothing comes to mind, make me laugh and want to try and redo my post. Make my day brighter, because right now it is a dark and depressing place

Monday Night Movies

October 30th 2007 02:34
I was flicking through the channels last night, while contemplating going to bed because I was knackered after a long day at work and I see that the movie Two Weeks Notice is on. Why are they showing movies on a Monday night? It really annoys me because the ones that they show are the types of movies that you want to re-watch, so you stay up and as a result you are so tired the next day. If they have to show a movie, why can't they start it an hour earler. If the movies started at 7:30, I'd watch for sure, but now I have to boycott the channels showing the movies so that I don't get sucked into the plot and feel the need to sit and watch the rest.
Only a short rant today, tell me what you think about Monday night movies. Do you think they are a good idea?

My voice sounds like a man's!!!

October 29th 2007 02:00

I know this may be a stupid topic to write about, but I just had to record myself saying something, and when I heard it played back, I was horrified - I sound like a man!!! I didn't know this until then, because that's not how my voice sounds to me when I speak. To me I have a voice that's not masculine, but not too feminine; to me it is just right. But to hear it played back to me and to find out for all these years what I have heard coming out of my mouth is not how other people hear me, well it's just plain upsetting. Has anyone else had a moment where they realized something that they always though were right is actually wrong? This is a massive revelation for me; I don't want to talk anymore for fear of people mistaking me for a drag queen

Are manners a thing of the past???

October 26th 2007 01:17
I have been pondering this one for a while. I was bought up to say please and thank you, it is just the polite thing to do, but I am finding more and more that it seems less common to meet a person who is equally polite which makes me wonder if perhaps manners are a thing of the past???
I automatically say please and thank you and ask someone how they are. It was drilled into me as a child that manners are just a common courtesy. But how common are they now? I meet people who don't even put try to be polite, they just take, grab and walk away. How hard is it to say "Can I please?" or "Thank you for that". I mean, do people honestly think that by walking up to someone saying "Give me that", that they are going to get what they want? It sure seems like it.
I've noticed that people younger then I am, or even people about the same age were not all bought up with manners as a part of everyday life. I think this may be because my parent are significantly older then my friends parents. I was a later in life child, my father was 40 when I was born and my mum about 35 which makes my father 61 now and my mum 25. (Isn't it amazing how she is the same age as her oldest daughter

Tailgating Idiots

October 25th 2007 00:16
While driving to work this morning, I was tailgated by a very irate woman. I have no idea what it was that I was doing that made her so angry, I was not driving under speed, I wasn't taking up two lanes and I wasn't abusive to her first, so what was her problem and why did she pick me to tailgate out of everyone on the highway?
I could see her in the rearview mirror very clearly as she was that close. You know how normally you can see the whole front of the car behind the back of your car? Well I normally consider tailgating where I can't see a space between my car and the other car, but in this case, I could only see her front windscreen. Nothing of the bonnet. That’s how I could tell she was angry. Real angry.
It’s not like she couldn't see the car, its bright freaking yellow for Pete’s sake. If had have been in my own car, I seriously would have contemplated tapping my foot on the brake while keeping my foot on the accelerator just to scare the living crap out of her, but I was in my sister's car, so I didn't and I just put up with it. I changed lanes so she could go around, but no, she was angry at me and followed me into the lane and continued to tailgate. I really have no idea what her problem was, maybe she was just a weirdo, who knows? So anyway, basically she followed me the whole way until I left the highway, it was really nerve wracking. I don't know why some people think that it is a good idea. It is just so dangerous and stupid. People like that cause accidents. I hate people who tailgate; the fines for it should be much more severe. Not only is it only dangerous and stupid, it is a form of intimidation and bullying. It is ridiculous that so many people do it and get away with it. I have been tailgated a fair few times, not for any reason that I was aware of. I am not willing to speed just because the car behind me wants to. If its a problem, go around, don't try to scare me into going faster

Inconsiderate Neighbours

October 24th 2007 01:14
Today's rant was bought on after many a sleepless night courtesy of our neighbours. I live in an apartment block with about 16 units in it, so we are packed in pretty close and it is realistic to expect some noise. But when it means that you have to sleep in a room with the window closed in warm weather because everyone is so noisy, I am sure that that I am not asking for too much when I ask that other people be more considerate of others that are sleeping.
We have neighbours which have very loud parties which sometimes go until 3 the morning. Then at about 4am, once you finally drift off to sleep, other tenants come home with about 5 of their friends, all drunk, and proceed to have their own party right outside my bedroom window (Maybe not, but it sure seems like it!!!).
All I want is a bit of sleep. I am fine with a little bit of noise, but I find it hard to believe that anyone could sleep with the ruckus that goes on outside. I know I sound like a whinging old person (I am only 21) but it's really, really bad

Sucky Customers

October 22nd 2007 01:16
Today, in a reversal of the customer service rant from last week, I am going to take a look at the issue from the other side, the side of the server. You see, I have also been on this side for many, many years. I have had some horrendous customers. I worked in various restaurants as a waitress for nearly four years, before getting an office job where I still deal with customers, but mostly over the phone now.
I know that many people have horror stories about the customers (or guests as one particular establishment that I worked at would call them) that they have served or that they know of.
There are ranking of suckyness when it comes to these people

The Weirdo Within

October 19th 2007 01:18
I don't know about you guys, but I seem to have an inbuilt freak magnet. Laugh away, but you have no idea how horrible it really is. I think it is a family curse, cause my sister has one too. We both attract weirdos. I don't have to be doing anything in particular, they just flock to me regardless. And I don't get why. I am not a nice person who takes sympathy on those who are socially retarded, in fact I am the person who is likely to point out their flaws. To put it bluntly, I am a bit of a bitch. In my defense though, you would be too if you had the these kind of weirdos trying to talk to you. You have to get them away quickly or they get hope that you are going to be nice and NEVER GO AWAY!!!
There were some absolute weirdos at high school. You know the ones I mean, creepy and always staring and would occasionally try to talk to you. You've got to get in fast and say (or yell) "Why are you talking to me? Go Away". If that doesn't work, try "Get the f*uck away from me weirdo!!!"
My sister told me recently about her latest run in. She was sitting in a park on her lunch break, minding her own business and listening to her Ipod. She sees this guy rolling around in the grass (like a whale lolling is how she described it to me. I find the visual image is better if you add the whale noises in yourself. See?) out of the corner of her eye who is obviously trying to get her attention. She is well practiced in the art of avoiding weirdos and ignores him. This seems to be working well until the guys starts yelling "Hey! Hey lady!" So now other people are staring at her. Reluctantly she take out a headphone, she knows where this is going (as I said before this is an ongoing problem for us) and so the weirdo yells, while everyone else is still looking at her, "The grass. It protects me from the ants". Yep, that's what he said. My sister, who has more tolerance then me, just said "Thats great" and when back to the music and hoovered the rest of her lunch down so that she could get the hell out of there
