Rant on Religion
I was a indoctrinated Catholic til about 15 and then I was simply an agostic and then in college I claimed to be an athesist and now I just do not think it matters a whole lot. Religion seems to cause more harm than good. We separate and discriminate because of it. Our country claims that there is separation of Church and State then why are presidential candiates questioned about their religious beliefs, how does provide any information about the type of president they can be? And why would we want a president doing things based on what "god" tells them? If it were anyone else we would deem them crazy or merely dismiss them. In the last ten years it seems that "god" has only been telling people to do horrible and awful things. I haven't read all the holy texts but I'm pretty sure "god" doesn't want us to kill each other.
So let's start a new religion, but it shall be open to anyone and everyone who values llife, freedom, love, and unity. And there are no oaths to take or rights of passage because when have they ever been more than forced rituals? I say if there is some higher being, whatever it may be, I hope it to be everything we are not. I hope it to be understanding, accepting, truly forgiving, and have a damn good sense of humor if it's watching us all the time. I feel it is time to let go of these religious institutions; they only serve to hold us back from ever uniting together. How can humanity ever more forward if we are still stuck in the same Now I have to admit I hold great respect for Hindus and Buddhists, I never hear about them killing each other.
Well that's my rant for now... any thought?
