Reflections on week 8

November 2nd 2009 16:04
Here are some of my reflections for week 8 of the 2009 NFL season. Julius Peppers had a good game for the Panthers against the Arizona Cardinals. Jake Delhomme who has been catching all kinds of hell from me and most other Panthers fans also had a solid game. Too bad Jake Delhomme was injured in his best game in 2009.

Brett Favre showed once again he can step up in a big game when he helped the Vikings defeat the Packers. I can’t stand Favre’s prima donna drama queen ways but damn the man can still play in the NFL.

I was not shocked at all to see the Denver Broncos lose to the Ravens. As you can see here I picked Pittsburgh to beat Denver in week 9 as well.

It was good to see Ryan Moats have a good game for the Texans. If their defense improved the Houston Texans can make a playoff run.

DeSean Jackson and Miles Austin should have a nice game next week when the Eagles take on the Cowboys. They are two of the biggest playmakers in the NFL currently.

Free Predictions for week 8

November 1st 2009 12:19
Welcome to my free football predictions for week 8 of the 2009 NFL season. I do weekly predictions and my won loss record is at 72 and 27 at this point. This is not counting the Monday night game as I do my predictions before that game is played. As you can see here I went 9-2 in week 7 (not counting Mon) and I even won my office football pool.

And a football office pool is what these free week 8 NFL predictions are good for. I do straight picks with no point spreads for you football gamblers. If you do however want me to handicap a point spread for you, then leave it in the comments below. I will get back to you shortly there. Now on to the football game picks for Sunday November 1st and Monday November 2nd, 2009. Just click my name to pull up my profile of other 2009 pro football articles and to see my free game predictions for week 9, next week.

Seattle at Dallas

Julius Jones returns to Dallas where he was replaced by Marion Barber and Felix Jones. Unfortunately the Seahawks are pretty bad this season and banged up. Dallas is trying to avoid a letdown after beating a good Atlanta team. My week 8 NFL prediction is Dallas 24, Seattle 14.

St. Louis at Detroit

Battle of two very bad teams with the Lions and Rams playing each other. The Lions defense may make Mark Bulger look like Kurt Warner in the "Greatest Show on Turf" days. I just don't think the Rams have as much "Want to" as the Lions. Detroit wins a scoring fest, 42 to 35.

Cleveland at Chicago

The Browns have the worst coaching staff in football, and one of the worst teams as well. Chicago was looking decent until the Bengals slapped their booty for them in week 7. Look for the Bears to rebound a bit and win 24 to 10.

San Francisco at Indianapolis

Alex Smith came off the bench to have his best game as a 49er in my opinion, although in a loss. The Colts are looking good and Payton Manning is the best quarterback in the game. Look for the Colts to win 28 to 17.

Miami at the New York Jets

I am wondering how much letting the Saints come back for a win will hurt the Dolphins. The Jets spanked a bad Raiders team after dropping 3 straight. When in doubt I go with the home team. The Jets will defeat the Dolphins 17 to 14.

Denver at Baltimore

Free NFL Picks Week 8 for the 2009 Season
The undefeated Denver Broncos come to Baltimore to take on the 3-3 Ravens. Denver is winning with defense, and the Ravens are actually showing a little more offense than usual. I think the travel from West to East may hurt Denver and they will need a big day out of Orton to win. I just have a feeling about the Ravens wanting to make a statement. Baltimore 24, Denver 17.

New York Giants at Philadelphia

I think the Giants are the 2nd best team in the NFC behind the Saints., and they will be mad after losing to the Cards. Philly isn't even in my top 5 at this point. Giants run one down the Eagles throat, 17 to 13.

Houston at Buffalo

The Bills did beat the Panthers in Carolina but that is fairly easy to do. Houston has been up and down all year but they will be up this week. The Houston Texans whip the Buffalo Bills 28 to 10. If Andre Johnson is too injured to play, then 17 to 10.

Jacksonville at Tennessee

The Jaguars have a decent offense at times but their play is hot or cold from week to week. The Titans are the most disappointing team in the NFL for the 2009 season. Jeff Fisher caught some hell for wearing a Peyton Manning jersey which I found stupid. The Titans get a win 24 to 17 over the Jaguars.

Oakland at San Diego

The Raiders have the 2nd worst coaching staff (and worst front office) and the Chargers have talent but no desire to win. The Raiders sometimes play division rivals close, but I don't see it happening this week. Chargers 27, Raiders 14.

Minnesota at Green Bay

This is it fans, Brett Favre returns to the probably not frozen tundra of Lambeau Field. Favre comes home to play the Packers in Green Bay. A few weeks ago Brett Favre and the Vikings defeated the Packers 30 to 23. The Vikings are coming off their first loss (to the Steelers) and are a little banged up. Brett Favre will be stoked to be playing his revenge game at Lambeau Field.

Aaron Rodgers is having a good season and will also be pumped for another shot at his former mentor, Brett Favre. The question will be can the Packers defense stop Adrian Peterson?

Prediction for the Vikings at the Packers in week 8 of the 2009 NFL season. I think Rodgers will toast a banged up Vikings secondary and the Packers win 28 to 24.

Carolina at Arizona

A rematch from the NFC playoffs in 2008 between the crappy Panthers and semi crappy Cardinals. The Panthers struggled in their two wins and lost to a bad Buffalo team. Arizona spanks Carolina by the score of 27 to 14.

Atlanta at New Orleans

The Falcons showed themselves to be a little overrated in week 7. The Saints just refuse to lose and came from 21 down to beat the Dolphins. Atlanta can't get their running game going like they would need this week. Saints 24, Falcons 17.

Free week 7 NFL predictions

Welcome to my week 7 NFL predictions, the latest in my efforts to aid sports gamblers. However, I don't do point spreads in my picks.

I did go 8-6 in my week 6 NFL predictions with still leaves me a respectable 63-25 for the 2009 NFL gambling season. Remember these are straight predictions for pro football games suitable for an NFL office pool.. As always these are free NFL game predictions for the 2009 season

Jim Zorn never should have taken the head coaching job for the Washington Redskins. I know it is every coach’s dream but that is a dead end job. He wasn’t ready for the job and it was a head scratcher when he was hired. Daniel Snyder hired Zorn to be the offensive coordinator then gave him the head job later.

Snyder has a poor front office that is in love with big name free agents that don’t produce. Zorn’s days as the Redskins coach are numbered, hell Marty Shottenheimer couldn’t keep the job

Previewing the Saints and Giants game

October 12th 2009 21:38
New York Giants at New Orleans

I think this is the NFC Championship Game preview. Eli Manning is making use of all his weapons with the loss of Plaxico, to prison. He has really stepped his game up and the Giants are a perfect 5-0. The Giants are well balanced ranking 4th in rushing and 9th in NFL passing on offense. The Giants defense ranks 1st against the pass but only 16th against the run. My preview of the Giants/Saints game indicates that the Saints better run the ball well, if they want to win

Miles Austin blows up the Chiefs

October 12th 2009 12:50
Miles Austin had a pretty decent first start as a Dallas Cowboys wide receiver, yesterday. If you call 10 receptions for 250 yards and two touchdowns against the Chiefs, decent. Miles Austin had a career game and probably took the number one receiver spot on the team. But do keep in mind they were playing the Chiefs and career games do happen to bad players, ask a certain running back named Smith who had a great Super Bowl once for the Redskins.

But I do think Austin is the real deal and a quality NFL wide receiver. Mostly used as a returner in the past, Miles Austin showed he has athletic ability. He retuned a kickoff for a touchdown in a playoff game once

President Obama won the Nobel Prize for not being George Bush. Hell I am not George Bush either, send me one! The fact that President Obama could win the Nobel Prize this early in his first term is a farce. That shows us that the award is tainted because undeserving people win it.

Perhaps this will soften the blow of President Obama not being able to get the Olympics for Chicago. Frankly I am not majorly impressed with the Nobel Peace Prize anyway and seldom keep up with who won it
