Randomness - Work, Car, Life

Synopsis: Work is surprisingly good, even if I don't want to be there. The car is sad, I almost wrecked yesterday. Life is o.k., I'm exhausted and frustrated and anxious; however I know it'll be o.k.
Work
I work in a home improvement store paint department. It really is a good department to work in, but can be awful frustrating at a small store. At the moment we have 2 full-timers (one regular = me, one department head) and a part-timer. Another part-timer is scheduled to start soon, but the first one is leaving within the next couple months. This means that we are extremely short-staffed.
The department is a mess. I was on vacation for a week, then the DH was in training for a week, and I was off again for 4 days (randomly). Due to all that, people were working paint that normally don't do so, and...it just killed the place. Last week I pretty much worked by myself with just randoms filling in. I could not catch up. I got back after the 4 days off and the entire place was just trashed. I spent almost 8 hours yesterday just cleaning behind the desk area. The messed-up paint hadn't been processed in almost 2 weeks and I probably reduced and tossed $200 worth of random stuff I found damaged and shoved in random corners. It was just awful. I also stayed 1.5 hrs late yesterday because they somehow forget that DH's have a meeting at 3pm, when I'm scheduled to leave.
Today was mostly better. I had to fill the machine's with color really well which took quite awhile. Then I had help in the department to unpack a whole lot of stuff from the overhead area. It looks really really good. It was also nice to have actual people to talk to - I'm usually alone most of the day. Unfortunately my lunch coverage switched shifts with someone who pitches fits about covering. I only got a half hour. That does mean I got/get to leave at 2 today and tomorrow which is nice. It was pretty slow today, and all the customers were pleasant which is a change.
Car
Not a whole lot to report actually. It was raining by the time I left work yesterday. Not a whole lot, but the roads were a bit slick. In TX there's usually a lot of dried oil on the roads because of the heat and whatnot. So it gets slippery.
I um...once again learned that my car dos NOT have anti-lock breaks. It's seriously only one small stretch of street real close to my house that I ever have a problem. It's a slight decline, and usually kind of backed up because it's only one lane each way. Half the people go straight and the others turn right - no turn lane. I get going at a decent pace and people slam on the breaks. I slide, and skid, and slid. You're always told to pump the breaks, and that does work....if you take your foot totally off the break in between (at least on my car). That just goes totally against what I want to do. I think the tires are o.k. and it recently passed inspection. Boyfriend is going to look at breaks in the next week or so. I only have problems when wet. Anyway, it scared the crap out of me. It was very close, and I've never been in an accident when I was driving. The freaky part about it is that the street doesn't have any shoulder...you go off the road to avoid hitting someone or into oncoming traffic (or of course hit the person in front of you). I always wonder how an ambulance would get through if traffic was bad, no way to pull off.
Life
It's going o.k. I'm very tired. It's been hard getting used to getting up at 4:45a again after having time off. I close Sat and Sun so I'll get a little sleep then. My teeth hurt and I have no money to go to the dentist right now. Actually, I have no money for GROCERIES right now, but whatever.
