Poem about a Dead Person

November 5th 2009 04:57
This post is a bit morbid, because today, when I got home from lawn bowls I found one of my dogs dead, on the back lawn. Rangler was a schnauzer, and was thirteen years old. Schauzers can live for sixteen years or more, but that was not to be for Rangler.

She was a great show dog, and a good companion for us. She was also a good aunty for any puppies we had.

I am going to write a poem about Rangler, probably an acrostic poem, because I don't feel up to much more than that. Rangler was a good dog, and all good dogs should be remembered in some way when they go.

What I'd like my readers of this blog to do is to write their own poem about someone who is dead. It might be someone close to you, it might be a pet, or a movies star. It's your poem, write about who you want, in whatever style you want.

I've written poems about loved ones and also someone who did a terrible thing to me when I was little.

Your poem might be a celebration of someone's life, or it might be a 'Glad you're dead' poem. Whichever type of poem it is I hope you find some kind of release in the writing of the poem.

Kids do Crazy things

November 4th 2009 05:10
How about writing a poem about some of the things you and your siblings did when you were kids!

I can remember fun times catching yabbies down at the river, and I remember trying not to get involved in games of Brandy that my big brother loved so much. I can remember things I'm not going to talk about here - I'm still working my way through some issues, and poetry is helping me with it all.

We all do things, some things we do are great and are things to be proud of. Some things aren't. I have found that poetry and other creative writing can be a great way to work through issues in a non-threatening way.

So, you can use poetry to look at some of the crazy/notgreat things that you did or that happened to you as a child. You don't have to show any of this stuff with anyone. It is your life, your therapy.

Or you can just embrace the good things and maybe show your own kids what it used to be like back in the olden days ie when you were young.

Poetry Arrives Every Day

November 2nd 2009 03:32
There is poetry in the sky, one the ground, in the things you see ad do. If you ever say you can't think of anything to write about - forshame!

There is a whole world out there, all those people, and the whole world you have inside your head too! I aim to find something most days to tempt other poets to have a go at writing something new. Random poetics, where your inner critic doesn't get a chance to say anything, because you will just be writing whatever you scribble down.

It doesn't matter what it is, whether your inner critic hates it, just getting the words on the page is the aim of the game. The only way you can fail is if your don't write a thing!

So get ready for some fun.
