Ramble On - Or How I Get Through This Life
In a recent post I conjectured about an iPod vibrator. Thanks Cibbuano for verifying the existance of an iPod vibrator distributed as an OmMiBod vibrator. It was just a matter of time I was on a mission to see what all of the hoopla was about There is also a garter for less adventurous folks I think their tag line says it all "Tune in and get turned on." When I was looking to "pimp" my iPod this is not what I had in mind. Very ingenious however

I was awakened this morning by a double dose of Sabbath "Crazy Train" and "Paranoid".
I wonder what that means?
Wandering friend sent me this interesting link from CNN regarding an undercover investigation concerning illegal activities at several Sydney brothels. Read more
My interest was peaked when reading that officials paid private detectives to have sex with prostitutes to “gather evidence” to shut down illegal brothels.

I have recently developed an unnatural affinity for my iPod and all that is technosexual. I would choose a plasma TV over my “little black dress”, my Smartphone over Manolo Bahniks, and TiVo over Tiffany’s. I was drilling around the internet looking for ways to pimp my iPod and came across this little gem:
Pod Porn Empire announced the launch of "Porn On The Go" - the ability to download XXX adult scenes for the iPod Video and Sony PSP. [ Click here to read more ]
I was reading this New York Post article regarding “enjoyment marriages” link to the article
It got me to thinking about the many types of marriages: covenant, common law, inter-faith, handfasting, plural, civil unions, and enjoyment or pleasure marriages. I also read about the Oneida Community. This colony was founded by John Noyes in 1848, in upstate New York

A favorite summertime excursion of mine included driving across the bridge over Lake Bob Sandlin in wandering cousin's 1957 highland green chevrolet roadster with its yellowed, vinyl protecting the surf green upholstery. I remember a story about a local bootlegger and richest man in the town. It seems that this man was a collector of cars. As the odometer would reach a certain number, this man would drive his cars into his pond, which is now covered by the lake. He couldn't bear to sell or tow the cars to the local wrecking yard, He figured that at least the fish would have a place to hide and he would know the perfect spot to fish. To the west, one was awestruck by the water generating plant which appeared to be a fairy castle with its flickering lights illuminating the fog rising from the lake on moonless nights. I fancy that pixies darted in and out of the watery car graveyard whispering tales of summer's past.

Wandering friend was a member of a garage band that would practice in an airplane hanger because his family lived in a pretentious neighborhood with sound restrictions. In his early twenties, the band entered a battle of the bands where they won $500. He said that they played Allman Brothers' "Statesborough Blues", Heart's "Barracuda", and Skynrd's "Gimme Three Steps." He said that he chalks up the win to the hours spent in his mother's beauty salon practicing rock and roll hair styles.
After the win, the band played for an Elvis imitator, high school proms, and biker bars. They would travel from gig to gig in an old beat up truck. Now the days of garage band are passed. Guitar collections have replaced garage bands. My friend's collection is 38 strong. here are some of the highlights: Martin D-45 Marquis, 1953 Gibson Les Paul, 1956 Fender Telecaster, 1959 Gibson-345, 1961 Gretsch 6128 Duo Jet, and a Schoenberg Soloist just to name a few. His piece de resistance is a 1954 two tone Strat. It is a beaut

Next week, the bull dozers are coming to demolish more of Fry Street. I am saddened to see that even more of Denton's history will soon be gone. I was thinking about one of my favorite breakfast joints of all time that resided there for many years.
For those of you who regard yourself as breakfast connoisseurs---take heed. Back in the day across the street from the zebra painted cinderblock Fry St. records and Tapes (which was really a front for a head shop), and caddy cornered from the Sigma Alpha Mu fraternity house with its broken out windows, a Jimi Hendrix tapestry hanging from an upstairs window, and rotting settees resided Jim's Diner. Jim's Diner served the breakfast of champions, guaranteed to clog every last artery, since its opening on August 21, 1939

I opened the paper today and read an article regarding lightheadedness experienced by two cafeteria workers that was brought on after sniffing curry and cauliflower. Initially the school was concerned that it was a carbon monoxide leak. Concerned parents were even allowed to pick up their children. Read the article for yourself!
Each day during work, I drive by a cemetary on my way to the post office. I believe that the stark facts of death are not avoided by the living and should be accepted as a normal life cycle event. Just because death ends a life -- it never ends a relationship because the past still travels with us from afar, and what it has been makes us what we are today. I think that many people view death as the “new pornography.” As if it's one of those things that is both absolutely entrancing and completely indecent instead of fully acknowledging it, accepting it, incorporating it into the inevitability of our short lives, the denial feeds the curiosity, the craving to know.
I am very skeptical about the “manufacturers” of death. Funerals have become something of a growth industry and due to the aging of America, the AARP set are “a most receptive audience." My parents and I were recently at the receiving end of a funeral home sales pitch. My family rejects the air of stuffy respectability that infiltrates most funeral homes everywhere. It's a place of oriental carpets and tasteful seascapes, where the bereaved are enveloped in an air of studied compassion. My dad even asked a funeral director if there were special lights in the viewing rooms so that the deceased skin looks less pasty. The funeral director answered without missing a beat that “yes” in fact they utilize “soft lighting with red and blue lights so your skin looks better” and that's where he went when he “is feeling kind of pasty”. Touché Mr. Funeral director

Today there was a guy in my office who was discussing all of the jobs he had taken in his life and it got me thinking about mine. I realized that I have had a lot of jobs (and at one time). I can happily say that I was never fired and I made a lot of friends and many memories! Here are the jobs with the highpoint (hp) and lowpoints (lp)

I was reading an article in the American Mind regarding a dust-up between Planned Parenthood and local drug stores due to merchant decisions to lock up condoms behind glass as a theft prevention measure Link to article
There are already numerous barriers to all contraception due to the general publics’ reluctance to deal with their own sexuality in the first place so why add access into the mix? I think that this hoopla is just rooted in good old prejudice and fear as well as a continued platform for persecuting gays, teens, those persons utilizing federal assistance, and anyone who does not choose abstinence

Answer given when Wandering friend and I were discussing what we are currently listening to on our respective iPods.
the Wozz just returned from MAGFest, the Music and Gaming Fest. He hooked up with buddies he had met online on the Shizz board. Folks were there to party, game, and watch video game cover bands, participate in Guitar Hero 2 tournaments, watch friends play Mega Man II while singing along with the music. They played name that tune. Game coordinators would would play clips of song from video games and participants tried to guess the song. You could win a trophy or more importantly bragging rights. Thank's to Sherv you can sing along with the Shizz
the Wozz waz especially impressed with the bands Chromelodeon, Parasprinter. Arm Cannon, and Temp Sound solutions. The one down side was the lack of available girls. The cute ones came with their boyfriends, and the others came dressed as their favorite anime or video game characters (in elaborate costumes that they made themselves) A great time was had by all!
Thanks for the pic Stephanie

As long as I am pining over cancelled television series another one comes to mind...Arrested Development. Gotta love the diverse comic elements, the wicked wordplay, the double entendre, the pop culture references. AD was an acquired taste and a feast for those who had the patience to wait for each course. Five Emmys and the 2004 award for "best comedy series" and 4.3 million viewer each week had not been enough to protect it. Some moments that were unforgettable for me:

Yesterday I wrote about one of my favorite cancelled series, "Freaks and Geeks". That got me thinking about other favorite cancelled series. My number two pick for best cancelled television show is Firefly. This series concieved by Joss Whedon, (creator of Buffy the Vampire Slayer) premiered in 2002, but was cancelled after only eleven episodes. Firefly was modeled after traditional Westerns but had a futuristic yet "natural" setting.
The series is set in 2517 AD and follows the adventures of the renegade crew of Serenity, a Firefly-class spaceship. The ensemble cast portrays the nine characters who live on Serenity after fighting on the losing side of a civil war, as well as the pioneer culture that exists on the fringes of their star system. In addition, it is a future where the only two surviving superpowers, the United States and China, fused to form a central federal government. Firefly chronicles the characters' experience afterwards as pioneers and immigrants on the outskirts of civilization. The characters were quirky. The dialogue was bright, snappy, while keeping a rural "low country" flavor

One of the best cancelled show ever!
Call me a masochist but I loved the series "Freaks and Geeks." I believe allthough ill-fated, "Freaks and Geeks" was spot on while exploring the humiliation of adolescence. What is unblievable to me was the show's cancellation even though on any given night, the show's audience was 6.5 million strong, and so adoring that viewers eventually bonded together to buy a full-page Variety ad to protest it's cancellation. Set in the Detroit suburbs during the early 80s, it centerd around 14- and 16-year-old siblings Sam and Lindsay Weir (John Francis Daley and Linda Cardellini) and their struggles with post-pubescent self-definition. In addition to rich multi-layered writing and fleshed out characters, the soundtrack was always perfectly crafted for each episode

The Curse is Lifted
Elvis: Bro you ended your life toiletside after years of drug use. It is time to give it up to the throngs of the living who continue to celebrate their birthdays on this auspicious day (don't mean to offend the millions of hard core fans that are paying tribute to his life....I have been to Graceland...I have seen you guys!) One such rock star who should be honored is my wandering college friend. I wish for her the best birthday ever!

Being sick is a drag. On the upside I can get caught up with my TiVo. Unfortunately once I caught up with Fab Five (My Name is Earl, The Office, House, Ugly Betty, and 30 Rock) the leftovers stink up the joint. Wandering husband enjoys tivoing MXC, Beyond Tomorrow, Lisa Williams, Celebrity Paranormal Project , and the Surreal Life(and I am not even joking). Oh my opposites must attract! I am snubbing The Apprentice LA this year. I am tired of The Donald. Two shows that look promising are "I'm from Rolling Stone" and "Battlestar Gallatica (I realize that I am a late joiner here ). Well at least there are numerous countdowns being shown on "music" channels.

It is the sigh not heard in homes of preadolescents and adolescents everywhere. Why you ask? No one cares. The OC has been cancelled so what? I am mildly disappointed because it has been one of my Thursday night guilty pleasures for the past four years (sad I know). It is a bad habit like pack a day smoking . I knew that there was a "patch" in my future because during this season alone the writers have tried to lure new audience members by concoting nine episode with the following unbelieveable highlights: an engagement, a conversion to Judaism, a pregnancy scare, bare knuckle fighting, double comas, concern for environmental issues, dying ne'er do well father, prostitution ring intrigue, college suspension, and homeless teens. The highlights this season were Bright from Everwood and more Taylor TV time.

Recently I have had a wicked case of vertigo. Vertigo, for those unfamiliar with this symptom of an inner ear infection is akin to the worst hangover ever. The spinning or whirling that occurs as a result of a disturbance in balance.
Nothing like having the "spins" without a night of drinking and debauchery. If I am going to have to crawl around on all fours I want it to count for something! In the mean time enjoy this 80s staple Get on your dancing shoes and turn up the volume and click here
I love working out and since the weather has turned chillier, my workout location is now at my local gym. During a recent workout I became aware of reasons many folks steer clear of their gym.

Today wandering friend and I were discussing how this year was going to be different. We were also discussing how on the first day of the year, we both received emails from people bitching about one thing or another. We agreed that life is too short to deal with the bitches. You know who I am talking about. I go out of my way to avoid the bitchy people. My friend is so much kinder about them. She will analyze the root cause of their unpleasant demeanors and make a plan of "attack" or of "rehabilitation." Not me....retreat at all costs. While surfing I came across a site where"being bitchy' is actually one of their interests.
