Multitask? Lolwut?

June 9th 2009 16:09
Teenagers are always trying to multitask.

Myself, for example. Right now I'm writing this, texting, watching TV, listening to the radio, and trying to read a book.

Thank God I don't drive yet.

But do I really need to make myself cross-eyed, doing all of this? Is that my goal? Because it's working.

What's with the constant NEED for people to be doing multiple things at once? To make is go faster? If so, that's a stupid reason, and I won't ever do it agai-

Oops. Text message.

Anyway, they did a study. Humans, technically, can't multitask. Their brain just switches rapidly between tasks. So, let's say you're looking for two people in a crowd, on with a red hat, one with a blue. Your mind looks like this: "Redblueredblueredblue... red? BLUE?!" So, if your mind is on blue, but you see Red, it doesn't register, since you're concentrating on Red. So your search takes all that much longer, because you may skip over Blue multiple times before you actually see him/her. That's why it's so easy to overlook details.

I should go. My radio is blocking out the sound on my cell, so i don't know when I get a text. Or the name of whoever's on the Price is Right.

The INSTANT generation

June 8th 2009 17:54
People keep telling me to wait.

And wait.

And wait.

I end up waiting for about seven minutes. What's up with THAT?

This is the INSTANT generation, snap snap. We can get almost anything withing a matter of seconds. Need a picture? Google. Need to know when the war of 1812 was? Wikipedia. Need a source for a science project? You don't even NEED to have read it- just find it online.

As technology gets easier and quicker to use, the lazier we get. ( Also, the funnier. Heard this joke yet? "A man walks into a gym with a walkman strapped to his arm. Everyone screams, 'BOMB!' and runs." haha.) I mean, really. Who bothers to drag out that old dictionary (I think I still have one... somewhere in the attic, maybe?) when they can just use their iPod?

And food. Come on. Nobody waits 30 minutes for their pizza. Haven't you heard of the instant microwave?

Get with the times.

Toon bash

Remember the good old cartoons? The ones that come up in conversation, and you can impress (or show how pathetic your childhood was) friends on your know?

Scooby Doo, for example. Teaching children since 1969 that it's worth following a kidnapping ghost for a bit of food

Pretend this is witty.

Well, hey. looks like you stumbled upon Rainbow Farts. Smelly, but pretty.

This is a blog, in case you haven't noticed. It's where I post my innermost thoughts about unicorns and Johnny Depp (great mixture).
